The musical pathways of Hugo Piló (vocals) and Gonçalo Pereira (guitar) met in the summer of 2001, as some studio projects for TV shows brought them together, making them realise they shared many musical influences and, most of all, the desire to have a Rock n Roll band.
Dikk (bass) had always been the assistant producer at the old Estúdio 45 in Damaia, which became the bands birthplace later on. In the beginning, Dikk was quite reluctant about putting a band together due to the fact he had had some disappointments concerning previous projects, but he was easily persuaded by the two. They came up with the bands name, Blister, while going out for some coffee. The three guys agreed that the name sounded right and that it was a good metaphor for a unified and consistent band.
But they were lacking a drummer.
This problem was easily solved with Mauro Ramos, who used to work freelance. Gonçalo and Dikk saw him as a kid who hit with his drumsticks really hard and considered him the best option for the band.
From that moment on, everything began to happen
Not for Sale, recorded at G.Spot Studios and edited by the band itself, was regarded as Blisters birth certificate. The band gave away 1000 copies to friends, TV and radio stations. The single Day by Day hit Rádio Comercial and Antena3, two of the most important Portuguese radio stations, as well as some local ones.
On May 25th 2002, Blister played their first live gig in one of Lisbons hot spots at the time Até Quenfim. That date became the bands official birthday. Day by Day was the bands first music video. It was filmed in Nazaré and directed by Roger Berg and Hugo Guerra.
Soon, Blister started playing throughout the country without realising that, at the same time, uma Comunidade Blisteriana (that is to say, a Blisterian Community) was being born, mainly due to the bands official website.
Some of the motivation and courage that they needed to record their first album was achieved when they won a band contest (8º Concurso de Música Moderna de Palmela) and when they knew they were one of the finalists of Objectivo: Rock in Rio.
The album Without Truth You Are The Loser was out by December 2004. Its name was taken from a graffiti on a wall near Castelo de São Jorge in Lisbon, becoming the bands motto during the Pleasure Tour, which took place in Portugal.
2004 was a very rewarding year, as Blister got very good reviews on magazines, blogs, radio stations and even on MTV Buzz.
Since then, they have released the music videos of Pleasure and Good Things and Bad Things (from the bodyboard film Hot Spots), this one being number 1 for 3 weeks on Antena3. The same happened with Shes Wild on BestRock FM.
Some of their songs were part of the soundtracks of TV shows such as Os Diários de Sofia, New Wave and Morangos com Açúcar, bringing the band to the spotlight.
Blister released their second album, in 2007, and its 1st single, Old Friends, is dedicated to all of those who have somehow helped us get this far ...waiting for the waves!!!! hAsta
