Thanks for coming through! We are Blk Sonshine. We got together about 10 years ago in Yoeville which is a little suburb of Johannesburg in South Africa. We were both there playing our acoustic guitars at an open mic called Monday Blues.
We went from doing little shows in South Africa to recording a CD in Los Angeles. Our CD was then picked up by Fresh Music in South Africa and became a hit amoungst the people.
We have had an amazing journey which has included shows with Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, Susana Baca, Mary J. Blige, India Arie, Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, Busi Mhlongo, Ronny Jordan, Jimmy Dludlu, Cheik Lo, Ismael Lo, Queen and too many more to mention here.
There have been a lot of special times like the Nelson Madela 46664 concert where we met Mandela. It was also a real pleasure to end up in the studio putting together tracks with RZA from Wu Tang for Tekitha's CD one night.
All in all we've managed to keep our integrity as artistic people and we've remembered to laugh. We call ourselves Blk Sonshine because we see ourselves as black sons of the African continent attempting to shine through music and make our mothers proud. Yeah! We are out to make it stylish to love your mom!
Wats good breathren?!Up in Nairobi 4 a minute, just passing thru with sum Malawian love and blessings. It's a shame we didn't hook up when you last came. When you back in Malawi?Looking forward to it...one
It has begun so well. It was a historical moment in America. Obama was elected as the first coloured president in history; he did promise a lot of changes. Little time ago he has broken his promise with his signature to continue wars in middle east. With this step he has dissapointed a lot of people in the world - not only Americans - who did believe in him. Who did believe in what he did promise, who did believe that he will bring some needed changes. What are his daughters thinking of their father? Politic is a hard business. I respect all those who are facing the responsability to lead a nation. But I believe also, that right there is a big mistake. Politicians should not being involved in other responsabilities than in politic, I mean politicians should represent the interest of their nation, the interest of the common people! Instead of that many of them are involved in to business, leading an enterprise or even a great intercontinental trust. But these interests - that's what I am thinking - are missleading them into false decicions followed by consequences for the whole nation. The government should replace those politicians who are involved in deception maneuvers, chicaneries and power plays by politicians who really care about the common people (included the poor, of course!), about the nation, the SISWE! I am dreaming, I know, because those who would care about the nation, most probably don't have the money to campaign. And as in all corners of the world the need or even lust of money is like a stronghold, changes are just dreams which dissapears like mists. But I still have some grains of hope and they will grow like big trees and bringing fruit...and besides other activities I will also use this page to plant some seeds...
Well, these are my humble thoughts... God Bless You T.A.
So many raindrops crackle on my head - Another story of HipHop...
European political scientists recognize the possibilty that real HipHop could be a potential tool to explain political concerns; and real HipHop is revolutionary in it...
"Mother Earth isn't numb!"
"we rely too much on money...."
"I still hope that humanity will finally find peace!"
Some American Myspace-users did ask me if I have a translation of the Swiss HipHop track I shared last month, so I did post a blog with my free translation of those lyrics...
Concord Nkabinde tells me you guys are working on a new album. I am so hoping you will release it. I work with an amazing producer from Malawi, Erik Paliani ... Malawians continue to amaze me. Keep it up, man. And again, I absolutely love the Born in A Taxi CD, almost 10 years on ...

Peace and Respect to the "Good Life Crew" better know as Blk Sonshine. Much respect for kind and insightful works. Politics have failed us on African continent as a whole, I believe music will be a major builder. KUKU
