bllix is Meagan Johnson of Portland, Oregon. Beginning her musical endeavors at the age of six with the violin, later studies included cello and classical guitar. Electronic instrumentation and composition surfaced in 1998, leading to several informal releases under various aliases. Johnson's primary musical project, bllix, was born in the Summer of 2003; a direct result of migrating from primarily hardware- to software-based production. bllix's sound is described as an unpredictable hybridization of Ikeda-style glitch, classic electronica such as Boards of Canada, and percussion heavily influenced by Aphex Twin. Hallmarks of the bllix style are classical melody, atmospheres, skittery beats, bittersweet pads, and micro rhythms.
