The urban electronic band Blockwerk from Vienna
is visionary, striving from the island of concealed
concentration to the mountain of shared disclosure,
seeking out new electronical paths through the same
odd jungle of timeless music.
That's why Blockwerk comes in different colors with
lots of different ideas and in lots of different moods.
The new Blockwerk release "Straight Forward" reflects an attitude of urban communication & networking. Blockwerk hooked up with DJs from all over the planet in order to present completely different, yet related styles on a 4-track 12” vinyl - properly fit to be served on turntables across the world. The Blockwerk club-pop-track "Straight Forward" features the soulful vocals of drum n bass queen KC on a thriving groove,
followed by a genuine instrumental rework from DJ Erik Sumo (Budapest,HU) who included a peculiar Russian children..s poem – maybe to quench the thirst of a cowboy..s dry mouth with a glass of vodka -
Next up - a clear and clever minimal technoid remix by Austria..s most renowned DJane Electric Indigo (Vienna,AT), and last but not least the skillful Re-Toast pon de riddim in a raggamuffin style by DJ Collage (Seattle, US).
Blockwerk momentarily consists of five artists and came to life in about 1992 when a group of music college students started putting their ideas into action. After the founders of Blockwerk came to Vienna, new musicians joined in. The superfluity of urban sounds and the influences of the new crew members had an intensive impact on Blockwerk's music. Sounds & Styles changed and since every band member came from a different musical background, things really started stirring up and haven't cooled down since...
Blockwerk releases on the independent electronic label Oddtime Records
Blockwerk ..s debut release "From The Island To The Mountain" (Oddtime Records) was well received within the Austrian and European independent electronic music scene. The Reggae Hit Track “Inner Peace” circulated alternative radio charts (FM4) in summer 2004, followed by the thumping Remix “Dijital Sunshine” from Couch Records DJ Cay Taylan in 2005.
Music is so more than just a consumer good for shaking that booody. Blockwerk makes music from blocks and is confident, that the people out there are ready for this kind of approach towards music so there is no reason for us to hold it back any longer.

Hello Friends in MySpace!
There is something new from BLJAK! on my MySpace to see, a video piece called “The Empire of a Rabbit”.
It’s a trash music video or kind of visuals with some political and philosophical questions, like:
Who is that horny rabbit who likes to fuck us all the time?
Is the death the only real murder?
Who turn on the sun and why can I not turn it off?
Is a human who exploit the TV or is other way around?
Why we can not sell our souls for real money?
Why is my generation so afraid to start a revolution?
This video was made between Eastern and Whit Monday this year (2007) and I used different visual media and techniques for this piece. “The Empire of a Rabbit” is not a trailer.
The music is from Benga vs Skream “The Judgement”.
Enjoy and BLJAK!
