Bio
Blodwyn Pig was formed by Mick Abrahams in 1968. Mick was a founder member and lead guitarist of Jethro Tull. The Tull years had been the usual whirlwind of hedonism associated with that era, and had left Mick needing more than just "cool points" from the folk rock scene which was hurriedly becoming a cliche at that time. He left Jethro in late 68 to embark on what would become one of his greatest and most enduring musical projects..... Blodwyn Pig. Blodwyn Pig from their inception had an immense cultural impact in the late 60's and early70's.Their sound was very "way out" for their time, and was even mentioned in the same lofty circles as Zappa and Beefheart. The fact that they managed to captivate a mainstream audience with appearances on Top Of The Pops only made it harder for people to pidgeonhole them. This uncompromising attitude inspired many artists in the "Prog" or "Alt" rock scene of that era, and continues to do so to this day.Steven Tyler from Aerosmith was once quoted as saying " If I was putting on a festival, the first band I would think of headlining would be Blodwyn Pig "! These days, Blodwyn Pig is still going strong. And even though most of them are cashing pensions and using zimmerframes, the legend refuses to fade..... Proving that old rockers never die, they just grow old and wear plastic underpants!
