About me: Matthew Currier Burden enlisted in the military when he was seventeen. He served first as an Army aircraft crew chief, then a paratrooper before joining Special Operations. After receiving a Commission as a Cavalry Officer, Matt served in units in Europe, Asia and Southwest Asia before working as an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
He left the military as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve in July 2001. He has a Master of Science degree in computer science from the University of Chicago and works as an IT executive in Chicago. He is now pursuing his Executive MBA at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign).
Matt started Blackfive (an award winning military blog with over 3 million unique visits per year) upon learning of the valorous sacrifice of a friend that was not reported by the journalist whose life he saved. He also authored and editied "The Blog of War" (Simon & Schuster, 2006).
