People who help along the way are extremely important. My friend J recorded 2 out of the 3 songs I have here for you to listen too. What a treat to know! Without people willing to take a chance on you and help you out, this world would be a sorry place indeed! So thankyou from the bottom of my heart and also to Irvin, who is responsible for recording Leonard Peltier. I have alot of band members on the other side. And on this side I always enjoy playing music with others - I am looking forward to meeting many more. I think everyone is in the band! Without the listeners there would be no music! My very special friends Konrad, Trish and Brown recorded Leonard Peltier with me-what an honor...
Influences
I have been influenced by every one and every thing that has ever touched me or been"brought to my attention". I hope to be further influenced by the people that I may have the pleasure of meeting here!
Sounds Like
I came up singing on the streets-on both coasts. Since a very early age there seems to be a strong connection within me to the earth. When I sing a song that I feel has been a gift to me to use in an emotionally healing way I can feel the sound rumbling up from within the earth. It is wonderful when other people connect to this energy and increase it in a positive way-sort of like biological, mobile amps!
I am a street musician-I sing on the streets of Asheville,North Carolina nearly every day. It is a great way to connect with the people-I get to see rather quickly if the song reaches people in a good way, and playing all the time keeps my music tight. However, I also do this to make a living and times are really hard right now as you may be aware of. If any one with a kind heart wants to donate anything to help me, so I can record and continue to walk with Spirit regarding this music that comes through me. I will be eternally grateful. Here is the way you can do this:
I was born on the east coast-raised in Ca. in the Bay area but moved back and forth across the country with my parents and bro and sis. Lived in Alice Springs Aus. when I was 15 and Kodiak Alaska when I was 24-saw alot of things.Raised my own 3 children and one more, Tom's boy who died when he was 16, whom I had the pleasure of knowing since he was 12 and a half before he was tragically killed in a bicycle accident. Moved here in this area in 1990 and stayed. I know some wonderful people born and raised here who play music like it is life's breath itself and their music has helped my soul many times. I have been sharing the words and music I have heard from some place in the back of my head since I was 12. Each song I hear has been another lesson for me in a journey I asked for then to let me more understand the world and people and my place in all of this-when I get these song's and I am feeling so grateful for the lesson I also feel so filled with Spirit when I sing these songs. This I love to share with other people, and hope they are as healing and uplifting as they feel to me. When I finally get the C.D. done, I want to divert some of the funds to the Leonard Peltier Foundation and I feel strongly that this is a good way to share these songs.. I urge anyone with a voice to give something somewhere to help someone because this is a good thing to do, and it makes you feel good, and we ARE responsible for where we live, which is Mother Earth. GROW SOME PEACE.
I really enjoyed your set at the orange peel the other night. It was good to meet you. You said you had an interesting story to tell me about the river song and the drawing i gave you...
