YOU GUYS KICK ASS!!!!! Jim Rutledge was the man who started the front man syndrome for all these other lead singers who TRY to put on a show. I'm sorry, not knocking anyone singer but BLOODROCK was my very first concert and if it wasn't for BLOODROCK, I would not be the musician I am today!!!!! BLOODROCK ROCKS!!!!!!!!! Love, Peace, and Respect Harpo HAVE AN AWESOME WEEKEND!!! Lucky In The Morning...
Hey guys...My band Moxie opened for you in May, 1973 at The Adirondack Community College Forum in Glens Falls, N.Y. I was just 18. You were a big influence to me then and now. Thanks for the memories!
Hey dudes, Thanks for the friendship and your awesome addition to the rock and roll world. I was with ya when D.O.A. hit it big and every since. Regards, Marshall Stevens
I can remember when Bloodrock 2 came out and DOA was on the radio. Still one of favorite albums to play and play guitar along to. Lee pickens was mofo on guitar licks! Rock on guys!
I am laughing cuz I bought albums of yours in the 70s,still got um, and still remember the words. My kids get to hear the other side of mom. A true rocker.
In the glade, the spirits of the woods dance out of joy! The trees whisper of wonderous things yet to come. The planets align and the wise ones speak words in ancient tongue:
I was halfway to the checkout line at the supermarket when I realized that the quart of milk I selected was STRAWBERRY flavored. This is pansy milk. I was about to exchange it but the cashier stopped me, she said, "Mr. Heller, if you buy this milk I will never have to buy milk again because I will just drink yours. I don't like plain anyway." I said, "Lady, if I took you up on your offer, you might have to add a pink milk mustache to your already impressive credentials."
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
Stray Dog did a song called Crazy on their debut album (snuffy walden) BloodRock did Crazy bout you baby.(Nitzinger) Who stole from who? I like Stray Dog but I love BLOODROCK
Thanks for the add! I seen you guys at the Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Mi. Back in the 70's! Mark Farner sat in with you! Always dug your band, in fact i always think of DOA when i hear "Dream On" because the lick -4 thing is so close in structure... You were first with it! Respectfully, George
let me tell ya,all records with Jim Rutledge are unique, such great lyrics and Lee's sharp guitar sound is amazing.Keep up the great work, hope you all are doin' well, take care-brothers health & peace
Thanks for the add to your friends list. Two of my most favorite songs from my younger days belonged to you guys. They were D.O.A. and Jessica. Peace, prosperity, good health and happiness.
Thanks for the comment. I saw Bloodrock first row center two nights in a row opening for Grand Funk at the Fillmore East and have a whole bunch of vintage Bloodrock concert posters and handbills. I can post a few to this myspace page if you'd like. Peace Love & Rock, Electric Dave Host BB Kings NYC
Hey, you dudes. I love the way your page comes out. I was one of the kids that were knocked out on artificial rock-out. If your from Bowie, TX in '69 the only good place to go for music was up in the Cellar. My band played a lot, no, A LOT of ya'lls,(and Johnny's), songs. Who knows I may get 'Lucky In The Morning' and hear from Ya'll.
Good Evening Bloodrock, It is an Honour to have you among my circle of cyber friends. Thank you for excepting my add and for all the great music. You where a big part of my life. Enjoy your Thursday!! With Respect and Admiration from Toronto, Canada.
Over the past thirty years, only two, poor-quality video copies of Bloodrock live performance have leaked out. The recently released “Bloodrock Reunion Concert” DVD has been worth the wait! As an example of the enthusiasm put into the project by the band, they performed their most famous, (and probably least favorite to perform), hit, DOA, in its entire, original long version. Steve prepared the audience with a special, haunting intro, while Nick and Lee each played strong parts, featured expertly in the video. The great camera work captures Ed’s entertaining expression as he lays the victim to rest in the closing notes of DOA.
Jim has guts. His vocals were unbelievably good, but to successfully take on challenging songs like “Breach of Lease” and “Kool-Aid Kids” at “fifty-something” took guts. Jim’s reaction and obvious enjoyment of Lee’s lead guitar solos so accurately reflects the same feeling that Bloodrock’s hard rock sound brings to us all.
Nick and Lee put their heart and soul into their performances; no wonder Jim could not resist “playing along with them” in the show. As well as adding great, new sounds, Steve provided the original keyboard that completed the Bloodrock sound. Like his distinct bass lines, Ed was the steady, solid base of the reunion and “put it all together”, as Jim said. Thank you, Ed.
Being a die-hard fan, I would have been thrilled with a hand-held, home-quality video, but was thrilled with the professional quality production. The intro, with glass breaking on queue, was a masterpiece “flashback” of Bloodrock’s first four albums. Congratulations and thanks to Bloodrock and everyone involved for bringing us this long awaited, entertaining and top-quality production.
Thanx for being friends !! Gotta admit we wore out the vinyls and 8-tracks, also good job on DOA updated, may take a few more listens to pick up on all the "additions", still my fav. Bloodrock tune either way..
