Blood Sweat Drum..n..Bass Big Band is a 25 piece jazz big band, featuring young and upcoming Danish jazz musicians and composers (average age round 25, and with about 25 % girls!). This is one af Denmarks most experimental big bands under the leadership of Jens Christian “Chappe” Jensen with an overwhelming energy, and a unique mix of styles with elements of futuristic rock – this is really groundbreaking work when it comes to expanding the big band concept and crossing musical borders. This way they are definitely reaching new (and young!) audiences, which their successful gig at Roskilde Festival in 2007 proves.
Their latest gig was the opening concert for Kongsberg Jazzfestival in Norway, July 1st, 2009.

Live with Jørgen Munkeby, their latest CD (Calibrated 2008) is a groundbreaking live co-operation recorded at Roskilde Festival and Aarhus International Jazzfestival 2007, with the guest soloist Jørgen Munkeby, composer and multi instrumentalist from Norway, who is known from his work with Jaga Jazzist and the award winning band Shining.
Originally ”Blood Sweat Drum’n’ Bass” is the title of a suite of six pieces written by Jens Christian ”Chappe” Jensen for extended Big Band, with its first performance in Aarhus Festival Week 2001. This suite was released on the debut CD. This live CD with Jørgen Munkeby is their 3rd and they have performed at several international festivals.
They are working with the following guest soloists: Jørgen Munkeby (NO), Arve Henriksen (NO), Palle Mikkelborg (DK) and Sofus Forsberg (DK). But this band is not a chameleon, changing style with each guest artist – it continuously performs its special style of music arranged especially for them by “Chappe” Jensen.

Danish BSDnBBB mixes electronic sound effects with cinematic compositions and experimental jazz to create music somewhat the same style as Mike Oldfield..s. This is not easy listening, but it is different and very good.
