Blood Vessels began in 2003 in Boston, MA. We snuck out an EP in late 2005 and our debut full length was released at the end of 2006/early 2007. In early 2008 we played our last show for a while, but as of summer '09 we are back! new line-up, new songs, currently recording and plan to release a new EP in the fall. We just (finally) finished editing the video for Catholic Zombies, the 1st track on our debut. Check it out:
Album Review from Hybrid Magazine:
Okay, so here is the question that I have to ask: If something sounds a lot like a beloved band, does that make it inherently good? It isn't a question of nostalgia or of a blatant copycat rip-off artist, more of the allusion presented, whether it is intentional or not. I guess my answer depends on how well they pull it off, because a lot of bands might rely on the sound rather than funnel the influence. In the case of Blood Vessels, the answer to the question "is it successful?" is: Hell yes!
I don't know, maybe it is nostalgia from some short lived bands, but I can not stop listening to this album. It sounds remarkably like a combination of Minor Threat and Operation Ivy, but somehow it is all its own. Songs from this album could easily fit in on those other records; whether it be "So Long" on the former or "Escape From My Brain" on the latter, either would blend seamlessly in with those perfect recordings.
Nailing the ambiance from track one, Blood Vessels succeed in creating the feel from that era, with the low-fi garage hardcore-punk, pristine enough to be on a CD, but with the grit like it was pulled from a tape-deck. Please know that I am not knocking the production, in fact, I find it refreshing in our overly produced world. It strikes me as some sort of perverse backwards simile; the beauty lies in the rough, not the jewels surrounding. All the more for that I thank the band for staying true to a sound, and capturing it to a "T".
While not epic in any sense, this album just plain does it for me, back to front good material laid on great tracks that resonate with the appropriate attitude. No presumptions, no disdain, only the love of the music and the need not to explain anything because it just is. Like it used to be. Like it should be. This record won't change the world or ultimately change me, but what it has given me is hope that those ideals from the salad days of punk are not forgotten, and occasionally someone will come along and get it right. So listen well because these recordings are few and far between.

Album Review from www.strangereaction.com:
If there's one thing I could say about the Allston/Brighton area of Boston, it's that there have been many bands I've loved who have come out of there. One of the latest releases from this local mecca of rock are the Blood Vessels. Their first album is a self-titled, tightly produced piece of excellence that fits into the sound that people associate with the city while definitely showing other influences. The opener, "Catholic Zombies" is a lurching blast of New Bomb Turkish noise and roll, and the album is off and running. "Escape From My Brain", "Don't Care", "Not Funny", the whole damn thing is great. If this album had come out in January instead of this past December I'd already have a contender for my favorite album of 2007. If you like your punk and or rock to kick you in the ass then check these guys out.
Album Review from Sleazegrinder:
Boston punk ‘n roll powerhouse with a twin-guitar attack and a healthy sense of outrage. Opens with the bullet-riffing “Catholic Zombies” and keeps barreling away like Hank-era Black Flag with a Turbonegro twist through ten mayhem-baiting tracks. The chugging, constantly soloing axes really put these cats into super-rock territory, but Niff’s gruff vox and the relentless desperation of the lyrics is all pure 80’s punk, mad as hell and willing to blacken a few eyes to prove it. If you dig a stab of Sabbath in your slampit cocktail, slap these brawlers on the stereo. Then duck.
