Blossom, c'est à l'origine trois musiciens, Ken Milandou (batterie), Benjamin Peyrot des Gachons (piano, rhodes) et David Gousset (basse) qui se sont rencontrés lors de jam sessions à Paris fin 2005.
Partant du format traditionnel de la chanson soul en anglais, Blossom se démarque en introduisant dans son répertoire l’improvisation jazz et le mélange des styles, avec une seule consigne : le groove ! Leurs influences musicales sont diverses : Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti, Kaidi Tatham, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, The Roots, Bugz in the Attic, Groove Collective, Mint Condition, Omar, Ed Motta, Jill Scott, Beady Belle, Minnie Ripperton, Salif Keita, Omar Pene, et tant d’autres encore…
Le trio d’origine s’est entouré de musiciens talentueux : Jonathan Gritella puis Michaël Valeanu à la guitare, Jeff Fierling aux saxophones et à la flûte, Valérie Delgado au chant lead. Tous ont des parcours très différents mais ont pour point commun une passion pour les musiques noires, l’improvisation jazz et les sonorités vintages.
Blossom is originally composed of 3 musicians : Ken Milandou (drums), Benjamin Peyrot des Gachons (piano, rhodes) and David Gousset (bass). They met in Paris at the end of 2005 during jam sessions.
Blossom’s music is based on a widespread format: Soul song and English lyrics, but the introduction of jazz improvisation and the mix of styles provides Blossom’s originality. And only one order has to be respected: Keep groovin’! Our musical influences are various: Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti, Kaidi Tatham, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, The Roots, Bugz in the Attic, Groove Collective, Mint Condition, Omar, Ed Motta, Jill Scott, Beady Belle, Minnie Ripperton, Salif Keita, Omar Pene, and many others…
The original trio has grown with the help of talented musicians: guitarists Jonathan Gritella then Michaël Valeanu, saxophonist and flutist Jeff Fierling and Valérie Delgado (lead vocals). Although their respective musical experiences are very different they all share a common passion for Black musics, jazz improvisation and vintage sounds.
