ABOUT
I am Ryan Spencer, the writer and illustrator of BluBoy comics.
This page is a way to help promote my comics and my work. And to hear feed back or give feed back to those interested. I hope to find inspiration and motivation through fellow artists and fans.
Growing up I've always been so inspired by art and cartoons and movies. I loved to draw and create and try to bring my dreams to reality. It was my escape, and gave me peace and sense of purpose in life. It was and is for me where I get my confidence and motivation. As I matured friends and family came and went in and out of my life. Death became more prevelent with people close to me passing on. Being the kind of person I am, change was always dificult for me to deal with. Whether it be a move or meeting new people, attending a new school. Was always so hard. So I think Bluboy is what helps me coupe with these feelings, that have always been there. I get a sense of upliftment when I know I am not alone in what I may be going through. I discovered, Bluboy gives me that by acting out my fears, my mistakes and my heartaches. As well I just want to share that with the world or those like me.
So to me, my comics are about feelings. More personal feelings that explore relationships and finding ones self worth and purpose. In a more melancholy atmosphere. I want to try to envoke sympathy, feelings of love and sadness. My comics, depending on how you look at them, can make you laugh or cry. I want the reader to be able to relate to the character and feel a sense of releif knowing they are not alone. And feel in some way an upliftment. I hope that my stories may remind us about those we love, whether it be a pet, spouse, family memeber, friend who is now not apart of our lives in what ever way... There is an underlying sadness to my comics and to this character. But one thing I hope we can learn from Bluboy is to never give up hope. And that the light we are all searching for will oneday present itself...
QUOTE: An expression and feeling that best describes my comics is "Happy being Sad..." - Ryan Spencer
