blue13 dance company is a proudly multi-ethnic, multi-genre dance ensemble of over 20 professional performers. Artistic Director Achinta S. McDaniel takes “Bollywood” dance to its highest level, creating a new form of movement altogether: blue13’s signature style, Bollywood-Tech, precise and technical contemporary dance born of classical forms of ballet, Indian Kathak and Bharatanatyam, Punjabi folk Bhangra and India’s Bollywood film industry. The company is famous for its eclectic and beautiful live artistry, bright, sexy, and highly dramatic.

blue13 dance company’s mission is to advance experimental and non-traditional contemporary dance while preserving and cultivating the cultural and classical forms of India. The company prides itself on its diversity, from race to sexuality to the choreography itself. blue13 was established by Achinta S. McDaniel in 1999 in New York City. Relocated to Los Angeles in 2001, the company has grown from its foundation of 4 performers to its current cast of over 20, boasting an impressive cross-section of ethnicities and movement styles.

The company recently premiered KARISHMA (2006) and PAHELIYAN: The Story of Alice (2207) at Hollywood’s Ford Amphitheatre to sold out audiences, and will return to the Ford stage August 32, 2008 for the World Premiere of KHEL! A Bollywood Bedtime Story

Director, Achinta S. McDaniel choreographs for live performance of course, as well as for commercials, music videos, television and film.
