   About Blue Bell Records

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." - Plato

Greetings from California!

Blue Bell Records was created-given birth to-started-dreamed up into reality by a girl in beautiful Midtown Sacramento, California USA. She loves robots, vans shoes, and still can't believe that "The Terminator" is the current governor of her state.

This young lady "did some time" as a representative and moved her way up to lead supervisor for the customer service department at the infamous Tower.com (Tower Records USA - R.I.P.). Soon after that, she "did some more time" and learned many things at an indie record label/distribution company in California where she worked for a couple of years. This place is called Darla Records.

When asked by her professor to use only one word or a short sentence to describe herself, these three words immediately (and without question) flew out of her mouth: "I love music."

Blue Bell Records was born, and our goal is to release music by artists both new and known for the whole world to hear. One may describe the music of BBR as fun, melodic, pop, electronic, pretty, new wave, indie, beat heavy, synth, dancey, idm, and almost everything in between.

Blue Bell's debut release, "Various Artists - Hear You Soon : Part One," released in 2004, is an album featuring diverse tracks from some of our favorite new and known musicians from around the world: Figurine, Sybarite, 808 State, Blue Ribbon, HollAnd, Freescha, Lullatone, Tycho, Greg Davis, I am Robot and Proud, and Marumari ... just to give you a taste of future Blue Bell Records releases.

Blue Bell's second release, "Blue Ribbon - Another Time," released in 2005, is from a brilliant four piece synth band from Providence, Rhode Island. We are proud to release their debut album!

And our third and NEWEST cd release is from a very talented young man out of Provo, Utah - OK Ikumi! His album, "Spirits" is full of many surprises and promises to be a great listen.

We plan to be around as long as you'll have us, so please stay tuned for more awesome releases. Please always support independent record labels, artists, shops, and college radio stations. Feel free to say hello anytime, as reading your emails is always a pleasure.

Our music is available worldwide physically on CD as well as digitally in the USA, Europe, and Japan from iTunes, Amazon, Napster, eMusic, Rhapsody, + tons of other websites. Check out the Blue Bell Records website for direct download links .

Folks in our lovely city of SACRAMENTO in California may find our CD releases at our friends' music store RECORDS at 1618 Broadway (at 16th) or at THE BEAT located @ 1700 J Street.

Check out an article by Jackson Griffith from the Sacramento News & Review newspaper all about Blue Bell Records and how we started HERE.

If you want to know the latest news and listen to some songs, go to our official web site aquí.

Hear You Soon,
Blue Bell Records

Various Artists / Hear You Soon : Part One

"Overall, the music on "Hear You Soon" comprises artful tunes that implore the listener for repeated play until every last note is absorbed."
- The Sacramento Bee - Sacramento, California

"When you used to murmur "Calgon, take me away," did you ever wonder where you might go? Whatever strange magical land it might have been, the soundtrack to your trip would surely be Hear You Soon. Hear You Soon is certainly an auspicious beginning for the label, offering a playful and unassuming brand of musical intelligence and futurist beauty that makes for pleasant living and gentle dreams."

Taken from the News And Review SACTO May 14th 2009,

Forms in Flux
A jarbled mix of everything, Forms in Flux takes on most genres out there right now. There’s electronica, hip-hop, spoken word, Americana bass lines and anti-government angst, all topped off with some singsongy “Ring Around the Rosy.” While nobody seems to be left out … what the hell is going on here? C.B.
Sounds like : the Chemical Brothers ran into an unplugged Trent Reznor, then plotted to smack the taste out of the Flobots’ mouth—but the Roots won’t let ’em

Babysue

My first encounter with Moira Stewart, for their debut album, is a straight shot of joy. This has put one big smile on my face.

Vital Weekly

.

Incurably cute and frisky, once the lids lifted off 'Sweetness, Yes!' its like a summer holiday schools out parade. Bonkers but superb with it.

Losing Today

Here’s an album to put a smile on your face. Sweetness, Yes! is a joyful mix of 80’s synths, indie guitars and quirky sampling.

A joyous carousel of fun and glad tidings.
Skipping around the electro/pop minefield with giddy abandon

The Crack

This hugely impressive debut could teach Hot Chip a lesson in the art of concise, punchy songwriting .
