Seeing as we’re still pretty new to this, our staff is small but essential. There’s Kevin, our manager who acts as the glue holding this regime together and he’ll still get your food out beautifully every time. Then there’s my dramatically necessary yet drastically underpaid kitchen staff: Mattie & Maggie. Each serves a purpose most important, without clean dishes, what would you eat your deliciously cared after foods on? Stop by and get better acquainted with the Saturday & Sunday waitress Ms. Bree. Then there’s me: Laurén, I own the joint, which basically means that if something isn’t to your liking, I’m the one responsible… unless it’s Kevins’ fault.
Music
You'll hear on your digestion playlist here anything from Miles Davis to the Buzzcocks, Beck to Pasty Cline, Chicago to Pulp Fiction, just about anything that crosses our path. Always open to additions and playlist suggestions... as long as there are no seriously pulsating techno beats or swears.
Movies

Television
About the only TV we watch here is the news and regular Packer or Badger games. That is unless Kevin gets ahold of the remote from the kitchen, in which case you may walk in on a serious MADE or Parental Control session, Kevins got aspirations... possibly invovling cheerleading or motorcross racing, we're not sure yet.
Books
We keep a few classics on hand, but don't normally get a chance to make any quality time for them. We also keep a plentiful stock of random interest, relatively current periodicals around... you know, for everyone to enjoy. And starting March 6th we're supposed to be getting NY times weekender delivered... we'll see how that goes!
Heroes
Abraham Lincoln, Jim Davis & Rachel Ray

About me: Blueberries is a small, cash only, brunch restaurant located in an old Studebaker dealership @ 522 6th Street in downtown Racine, WI within walking distance of beautiful Lake Michigan.
We’re open Fridays thru Mondays 6am – 2pm. Our mission is to offer healthy, truthful and environmentally responsible menu options in a mentally nourishing atmosphere with a focus on community. Basically, we’re about using only what we need and avoiding anything we don’t. We compost, recycle and reuse everything we possibly can.
We concentrate on realistic portioning and balancing your plate with what your body needs to keep you running for the day. What that means is that you won’t find a steaming heap of meat and potatoes or 5 egg omelets here. Quite the opposite actually, offering vegetarian and gluten free options daily. Another important difference between us and any other diner in the area is that nearly all of our ingredients are either organic or grown here in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is home to many small, family owned farms and produces a variety of wonderful products which we are always looking to expand our offering of. Here at Blueberries, we feel that it is important to lead by example and try to reinforce the importance of organic farming practices and keeping money spent locally. Every day we are bombarded by chemicals we don’t need and food that came from who knows where, but not at Blueberries.
Since opening our doors in July of ’08 we’ve began hosting a poetry reading (it’s called BONK!) that is sponsored by the Racine Public Library. It’s free to the public and features not only poetry but a variety of other live performances and other visual arts. Working together with our community holds high priority and we look forward to expanding the ways in which we are able to interact with our neighbors.
Who I'd like to meet: People who hungry for deliciously prepared organic & slow foods and are interested in making a difference. "A difference in what?" you may ask, to which we here at Blueberries would reply, "A difference in just about anything, as long as it's for the better"... defintion of "better" to follow.
I absolutely adore the menu and the atmosphere! My 5 year old who is THE pickiest eater cleans his plate every time we're there. Keep up the great work and I wish you nothing but success. Blue Berries is a wonderful addition to the downtown community. I love the fact that you are "green" and support our local farmers. Don't tell my boss but I tell people about you, especially my patrons that are looking for something gluton free!
