This video below is my fall semester project from my first and last semester at New College, before it closed. The show starts in the dark so give it a minute before the lights come up. This show itself is called Tremor Festival where students that were in the Experimental Performance Institute (EPI) show their work, everyone from the BA candidates, like myself to the MFA's. The title is called, "re: Fat Ass!" Written, directed and performed by Blue Buddha. All music by Blue Buddha and featuring a piece of "Gold Digger" by Kanye West. I've written music and lyrics before but this is the first time Iv'e written and performed a text based performance piece. Hope you enjoy it! Just did 2 more shows and will add them when I get the video cheers!!
Blue Buddha is a singer, songwriter, lyricist, writer, performance artist, activist and student. He has been singing since the age of seven in school and church choirs, with rock bands like Juggernaut, Upright Urbanite, Iconoclasts and Blue Buddha, as a band and as a solo artist. His inspiration for writing songs, lyrics or performance pieces comes from his life journey and the intersection of others. Be it a brief glance of a stranger, shame and hatred from a loved one or a revelation about his own happiness those moments mature into music, prose, laughter, pain, joy, tears and love.
A Love of wonder, surprises, and newness, of hurt with the awareness there is a lesson to be learned and of family in its many configurations!
Blue has played in San Francisco venues like El Rio, The Eagle Tavern, DNA Lounge, Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory, Masonic Temple and SF Pride Main and Soul of Pride African American Stages. The performance artist side of Blue is new and has been cultivated in shows with Super Sonic Theatre, “Exit Sign: A Rock Opera” by Carrie Baum and under the direction of Dwayne Calizo for The Hazardous Waste Project: Making Love. The Start of this new thread germinated in Tremors Festival at New College Theatre with his debut writing and performance piece, “re: Fat Ass!” Blue Buddha and Friends won first place for "Original Material" in the Cabaret Showcase Showdown at Bijou, hosted by Trauma Flintstone and Katya Smirnoff Skyy.
Buddha has recently received a grant from the Queer Cultural Center to write and perform a show for the 2009 Queer Performance Festival in San Francisco. He has also been an active member and sits on the board of the non-profit, The Community Initiative. Blue is currently attending California Institute of Integral Studies, where he is in Graduate school, Masters in Counseling Psychology in order to sit for the boards for Marriage and Family Therapist.

Our dear brother, Amoni, died Wed, April 8, 2009 at the age of 9. He is the one in the chair. We will miss him dearly and am glad to know that he knew he was loved. My parents adopted these beautiful little ones a few years back. I am sooo happy and blessed to have them in my life and as my family ;-)
