Our original Gospel Blues performance provides a Christian based answer to the Blues. Performances are designed and arranged to play venues ranging from churches, festivals, private parties, schools, camps, corporate functions and conventions, as well as opening for national acts at major venues.
The sound and music is the culmination of decades of experience performing in local and regional groups. Blue Heaven has opened for acts such as Anthony Gomes and Magic Slim & The Teardrops. Blue Heaven was established for the love of the Blues. Blue Heaven gives all glory to God.
David Brummett - bass guitar and vocals. David started playing at the age of eight and advanced quickly to the local scene and at the age of eighteen graduated to regional acts from the seventies to early nineties. David is one of the singer/songwriter for Blue Heaven and helps arrange a lot of the martial. He has opened for Bad Finger, Steven Hill, Woody Wright, Magic Slim and many others. David gives all glory to God.
Bob Weis - lead and rythym guitar and lead vocals. Bob's influences include Dick Wagner, Ear Slick, BB King, Dickie Betts, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Bob is one the singer/songwriter for the group. Bob has 35 years experience performing for area venues, including 20 years with regional favorite Legend. He has opened for Ty Herndon and James House at Kalamazoo State Theater. Bob's blessed with God given guitar abilities, ear pitch and versatility.
Victor Watkins - Lead Guitar.
Victor began playing guitar at 14 years old, cutting his teeth on the blues in east/central Mississippi and classic/southern rock on the east coast of Central Florida in the mid to late '70s through the early '80s. After moving to Michigan in the '80s he played in a variety of bands, including new-country and top-40/rock styles. Victors' lead style is influenced by artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Albert Collins, and others.
Turning back to his first love, electric blues, and his spirituality, instilled by his Southern upbringing and life's lessons, Victor, a founding member of Blue Heaven, contributes to all of the arrangements and original music.
Bob Hunt - Horns. Bob has played Sax as a weekend warrior for over 35 years. There was a tour of the Midwest with an 8 piece R&B band . Then while in the Army Bob played in Georgia and Germany. After coming home he worked the country clubs in Northern Michigan for a few years. Back in Kalamazoo he spent the next 14 years with the popular Endless Summer Band playing Sax, Flute Windcontroller and doing some lead vocals. The band opened for the Association and the Kingsmen.These days Bob plays the Synthophone (Midi Sax). This instrument has the capability of producing virtually any acoustic wind instrument sound, like saxes, trumpets, trombones and horn sections. Here is what Bob has to say about Blue Heaven: “Blue Heaven is a gift from God. I love the Blues, I love the style and original songs, the guys in the band are genuine messengers of God, and for the first time in my musical life I have the opportunity to give to others the gifts I have received from the old boy upstairs.”
Lyn Myers - Drummer and Percussion.
Lyn began playing drums in high school and also in the army. In the mid 80's he started the original band Unbranded with David Brummett, playing tri-state and the local scene for 10 years. Now as a working musician keeping the same bass and drum grooves in the the 2000's with Blue Heaven, Lynn gives all glory to God.
