What the hell is PsycheTronic Dub & Soul? It's Dub style Reggae rhythms played over Industrial and Electronic backing tracks. It's Soul and R&B styled vocals sung to Funky Rock beats. It's Improv instrumental interludes that travel through Trance, Jam and Acid Jazz to form our unique sound. It's what we do. We're Blue Marble Beat.
Ours is a modern show using loops, beats, samples, sequencers and synthesizers as well as more traditional instrumentation. We play original songs and perform music by other artists in our own edgy style. We've shared stages with Burning Spear, The English Beat's Dave Wakeling, Israel Vibration, Gran Torino and Mother's Finest.

Derek "dB" Brinson (vox, guitar, keys, programming) has enjoyed beverages with Thomas Dolby and Bootsy Collins, although not simultaneously. An affable and engaging musician, dB is part frontman, part court jester and all bad-ass. He's been indicted but never convicted.
Donald "Fammon" McDonald (trumpet, vox, keys, percussion, programming) is Blue Marble Beat's Utility Infielder. He jumps from brass to keys to vocals to percussion to make every song we play sound just right. Donald learned his chops as a member of an elite military musical unit. We could tell you more about that, but then Fammon'd have to kill you.
Thomas "Ski" Szypulski (bass, keys, programming) reached No. 4 on the French Pop charts in 1998 and garnered airplay on six of the seven continents. A skilled surfer who's shrugged off a shark bite and lousy waves, Ski fondly recalls his most recent visit to Jamaica. He recommends Newcastle Brown Ale and Guinness Stout.
Dewey "D-Dubz" Walsh (drums, percussion, programming) is Blue Marble Beat's producer wunderkind. His substantial production experience in electronic music and deep love of Jazz and Reggae give him an edge behind the boards and on stage that no one else in NC can touch. D-dubz is the anchor of the Blue Marble Beat sound.
dB and Ski first discussed a musical collaboration in 1998 while involved in Power Pop trios The Estranged and Leaning Owen. In 2000, Ski co-founded the Reggae party band Dread34. dB soon joined to play keyboards and vocalize. Donald blew Trumpet.
Throughout the lifetime of Dread34 and into the early days of Blue Marble Beat, dB played with his Acoustic Soul collective cleverly masquerading as a band, the-nerve. Through the years we've endured identity crises, economic and legal crises, wars, plague, famine and pestilence to become locally renowned performers, scenesters, in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Triangle. All of our influences and experiences meld into Blue Marble Beat's unique vibe.
We've played every size and shape of venue across North Carolina — from private parties, bars clubs, theatres to arenas and Alltel Pavillion at Walnut Creek. We've opened shows for international Reggae, Ska, Rock and Funk acts and have enticed deeply rooted wallflowers to groove on the dance floor.
