Blue Muse Trio performs selections from the Cantigas de Santa Maria, a library of Spanish and Portuguese devotional music assembled in the 13th century, as well as more contemporary Spanish-flavored jazz. Combining these spirited pieces with the mystically inspired poetry of 13th century Sufi masters Jelaludin Rumi and Ibn Arabi, they are made relevant to our time by their interpretation in the context of improvisation and musical exploration.
Rendering also the Sufi poetry of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Ibn Arabi and Mevlana Jelalludin Rumi, Blue Muse Trio places emphasis on improvisational playing in addition to more traditional workings of these timeless pieces.
With Misti Sorenne Bernard on voice and flutes, Tom Kersey on cello and Christopher Logan Austin playing hand percussion, Blue Muse Trio creates a seamless blend of times and traditions, of heart and art.
