Blue River is a Traditional Band based in the heartland of Kentucky. Blue River was formed by Glenn Alford from Shepherdsville, Ky in 2006. After taking some time off from the rigors of the road in order for his "kids to be kids" and not to miss at least some of their childhood, Glenn decided that he really missed the life of a bluegrass musician. Glenn, along with his wife Paula " Boggie" Alford and long time friend Billy Edlin, started Blue River. Glenn handles the mandolin duties for Blue River as well as doing most of the tenor singing and some lead signing. Paula keeps a strong and steady beat with the upright bass while Billy adds some of the most tasteful banjo playing that can be heard anywhere. Glenn, Paula and Billy were lucky enough to get two great musicians. Josh Richards from Sellersburg, In. who plays a terrific guitar and his also a great lead singer and last but not least Joel Whittinghill from Richardsville, Ky playing champion caliber fiddle and signing fine baritone vocals. They are not only great musicans but great guys also. I hope you enjoy some of the sample songs from our debut project. You may notice that we are striving to play as much original music as we can. We think that is important for the success of the band. The next time you see Blue River on the line up of a Festival near you come on out you won't be disapointed.
