Influences
All styles of blues are open to explore. Artists of influence might include blues masters like B.B. King, Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, J.B. Lenoir, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Primarily we will be playing electric blues, though acoustic guitars and other instruments of the blues are always welcome. Opportunities will be provided to learn special techniques like slide playing at our workshops.
Blues Builders is a newly forming group for young Blues enthusiasts in Northwest Arkansas. The group is open to all youth under 21. Young people of all skill levels are encouraged to join, however this is not the place to learn your first chords.
Monthly jams will be held as well as once a month workshops for the various instruments of the blues including; guitar, drums, bass, harp, and vocals. Equipment is available to use at all jam sessions, though youth may bring their own guitars, harps, drumsticks and other small equipment.
It is the hope of the sponsoring group, Ozark Blues Society that from Blues Builders will come the young artists of the next blues bands of this area!
