My spare money all went on gigs and buying records. I bought lots of vinyl in those days. In my last couple of years at school I had a Saturday job in a record store! I used to visit the import shops in London to get the more obscure US imports! Then for a while when the blues scene died I got into jazz and rock. I saw Hendrix when he first came to London and i was there at the very first Cream gig!I also got to see many of the jazz greats like Miles, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, George Benson and added a lot of jazz to my collection.
For quite a few years after that I was busy working, studying and raising kids but then in the early 90's I bought a CD player and began collecting music again! In the early 80's me and my family moved to Australia, living first in Wollongong near Sydney and then in Adelaide. I lived in California for a while in the mid 90's and bought a lot of music there. I visit the US regularly and am on an extended visit right now spending time with my man John Earl Walker. Around eight years ago I began presenting a programme on local radio. I started off playing jazz but then got more into blues when the two blues presenters left the station. Now I play some of each! You can hear some of my programmes on Blues groove.
I think I have a pretty good music collection built up over about 46 years so I'd like to share it with you! I'm not really after more music at the moment as I have way more than I can play!!If I find some cool new tunes that really fit the style of the station though of course I'll include them. This site is to connect with people who are interested in the music I play. I play mainly original contemporary blues, lesser known classics, jump blues, New Orleans and groovy jazz. Because I'm a big fan of Hammond organ and have over 200 organ albums there are some Hammond B3 instrumentals in the mix too and a few British bands. I reject more friends than I add because I can't see the point of connecting with people who are not either fans or artists playing the music I love. Whats the point of having 20,000 so called friends on Myspace? So far I've had a great response to Blues groove with many listeners tuning in regularly and adding it to their pre-sets so hope you will tune in regularly too!!
Your comments and suggestions are welcome!

When I take the time to sit down and look at people pasing by I don't stop thinking about how fantastic life is and even the creation of man. Think about all the parts that have to/should work together. It is not strange that something goes wrong from time to time. This weeks link is The Bluesmates version of Assembly Line. Wishing you a great weekend with some good music. Take care. Blues'on my friend. Grandpa_Erik
