Interests

  • General

Music, music, music! I like listening to it and playing it! ..
  • Music

I love most music especially contemporary blues, classic blues, jazz, swing, rockabilly, jump blues, New Orleans, classic R & B and soul and funk. I love chilling out with some cool Jazz trumpet but if I'm feeling upbeat I can enjoy rockabilly or zydeco. I play jazz and classical music on my flute! I go to lots of live music gigs. I love seeing a really happening live gig. Some of the best I've seen in this last year are The Derek Trucks Band, Dr Lonnie Smith, Robert Cray, Tina Harrod, John Scofield and the Piety Street band, Esperanza Spalding, Larry Carlton, Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, The New Orleans All Stars, The Neville Bros, Lucky Peterson, Barbara Morrison, Trudy lynn and Buckwheat Zydeco
  • Movies

Favourites are Woody Allen and The Coen Brothers. Love anything with Jack Nicholson (except maybe the Shining!) I go to the movies about once a week and watch a lot of DVD's. Just watching the original ..State of play' having seen the Russell Crowe one earlier in the year. Also just saw Mao's last dancer and `An Education'.
  • Television

Don't watch a lot of TV but I like music documentaries, some British comedy and some oz programmes like Rockwiz and Enough rope. ..
  • Books

Not much time for reading these days but always enjoy a good thriller and over the years have enjoyed many classic novels! Lately I have read more autobiographies. Recently I've read Garcia, Jools's Holland's autobiography and now Dylans Chronicles.

About me:

http://www.live365.com/stations/tesstify2 The grooviest blues, classic and contemporary electric blues, Jazz, New Orleans, swing, ....
Blues groove is an internet radio station which began in February 07 playing mainly contemporary blues and jazz 24/7! I started the station because I'm a music freak from way back. I began collecting records when I was in my early teens. Living in London I got to see a lot of live music too. All the British R & B bands like Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds, The Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and many more played regularly at the local clubs. I also was lucky enough to see many of the American blues greats Like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker and Sonny Boy Williamson live when they played in London! ..On the scene My spare money all went on gigs and buying records. I bought lots of vinyl in those days. In my last couple of years at school I had a Saturday job in a record store! I used to visit the import shops in London to get the more obscure US imports! Then for a while when the blues scene died I got into jazz and rock. I saw Hendrix when he first came to London and i was there at the very first Cream gig!I also got to see many of the jazz greats like Miles, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, George Benson and added a lot of jazz to my collection. For quite a few years after that I was busy working, studying and raising kids but then in the early 90's I bought a CD player and began collecting music again! In the early 80's me and my family moved to Australia, living first in Wollongong near Sydney and then in Adelaide. I lived in California for a while in the mid 90's and bought a lot of music there. I visit the US regularly and am on an extended visit right now spending time with my man John Earl Walker. Around eight years ago I began presenting a programme on local radio. I started off playing jazz but then got more into blues when the two blues presenters left the station. Now I play some of each! You can hear some of my programmes on Blues groove. I think I have a pretty good music collection built up over about 46 years so I'd like to share it with you! I'm not really after more music at the moment as I have way more than I can play!!If I find some cool new tunes that really fit the style of the station though of course I'll include them. This site is to connect with people who are interested in the music I play. I play mainly original contemporary blues, lesser known classics, jump blues, New Orleans and groovy jazz. Because I'm a big fan of Hammond organ and have over 200 organ albums there are some Hammond B3 instrumentals in the mix too and a few British bands. I reject more friends than I add because I can't see the point of connecting with people who are not either fans or artists playing the music I love. Whats the point of having 20,000 so called friends on Myspace? So far I've had a great response to Blues groove with many listeners tuning in regularly and adding it to their pre-sets so hope you will tune in regularly too!! Hello Tess,
Just stoppin by to say hello baby!
  • Nov 20 2009 9:32 AM

Every day we are jumping from one task to another – looking at the watch as a guide. No wonder heart attack is one of the main causes to death. We forget to pause, to look around and to enjoy friendship and family. The world is beautiful – you only have to allow yourself to see it - to experience it.  Look at the watch, painted by Jette – given the title “Time is relative”.
Take care my friend, make time  and have a great weekend.
    Love and respect. Grandpa_Erik

When I take the time to sit down and look at people pasing by I don't stop thinking about how fantastic life is and even the creation of man. Think about all the parts that have to/should work together. It is not strange that something goes wrong from time to time. This weeks link is The Bluesmates version of Assembly Line. Wishing you a great weekend with some good music. Take care. Blues'on my friend. Grandpa_Erik
