"Its a crime that the blueskins are not one of the most
talked about bands in the country"
"A mass of hair... took nothing away from a show positively
oozing confidence"
"...they are the best band in the country"
- Yorkshire Evening post
"the authorative and skunk-soaked vocals rasp and soar,
howling out the words as if the future of the Blues
depended on it"
"If you closed your eyes for just a second it could be Jim
Morrison presiding over Brian Wilson, Bo Diddley and Keith
Moon. But it's not, just four lads from Wakefield. How
amazing is that?"
- Leeds Music Scene
"They have the sort of cosmo pop sound that makes The
Datsuns and The Hives sound like a lost Hyena who has just
eaten a dodgy zebra"
- BBC Liverpool
"Every single song in the set is an absolute classic"
"The Blueskins are an incredible band and will do a lot of
great work"
- The Junction, York
The Blueskins are a four-piece band in Leeds and Gawthorpe, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The band was formed in 1999, and in 2003 they signed to Domino Records. Three singles, an EP and an album
followed, and the band embarked on a tour of Europe and America, recording in Mississippi with celebrated
producer Dennis Herring.
In 2005 a change of direction saw bassist Matthew Smith and guitarist Ritchie Townsend leave the band, and
later in the year Paul and Ryan brought in Russian ex-tennis pro Andrei Nosov on guitar, and Welsh music
student Tom Bailey on bass. After writing a mass of new tunes and touring the UK for the past two years with the new line up they decided to call it a day in April 2008, some of the new tunes will be kept up here and rotated occasionally if anyone wants to download them...
Let's just start by apologising for this "automatic comment" thing. We know it's annoying when bands you've never heard of spam your myspace.
However, this isn't meant to be spam. This is just a humble invite for you to come to our myspace, have a listen to the music and leave us some feedback? We'd really appreciate it, and we'll always reply to you.
Hope to hear from you soon (if we haven't already)
Currently Sweden's hottest export, THOSE DANCING DAYS combine "Sweet as apple-pie pop" with a devilishly sassy Northern Soul and it's this unique combination that has the got the whole of the UK falling over itself and for good reason too!
The subtle dynamics in their songwriting of JOHN and JEHN and the balance between chaos and beauty and the mastery of heartbreaking melodies Expect beautifully skewed hymns in the key of Serge Gainsbourg. http://www. myspace. com/johnjehn
Wakefield's THE RESEARCH are makers of fun, but also write songs that are like punches in the stomach that knock the wind out of you but afterwards you agree that you feel much better for it. www. myspace. com/theresearch
