BLUES OWN SONG OF THE WEEK
Want your blues heard? Here at the Blues Own we've always got our ears to the rails listening to what the latest and greatest sounds are coming down the track. With that in mind it's our pleasure to share with you a feature that we like to call... you guessed it... 'BLUES OWN SONG OF THE WEEK'. If you're interested in having one of your songs featured in the Blues Own's music player and heard by hundreds of blues fans and other artists, click here and we'll get you up on our stage.
Since 1988, The Blues Own has become a favorite radio destination for listeners in Atlantic Canada. Hosted by Blaine Morrison for the past nearly 20 years, The Blues Own has strived to play the best in traditional and contemporary blues, holding a soft spot for Canadian Blues, and especially the Blues of Atlantic Canada. The Blues Own not only plays the blues, it talks the blues with exclusive interviews, Blues News, details and support on regional concerts and events, and much more. In 2007 the radio show picked up it's first ECMA nomination for Broadcast of the Year, showing that it's always evolving and striving to be a better source for everything Blues.
Outside the show, Blaine actively supports the Blues, and is well known and respected right across Canada. Blaine has been on the nominating panel of The Maple Blues Awards, has attended The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton each and every year since 1994, and has been an active and strong supporter of The East Coast Music Awards since its inception at The Pub Flamingo in Halifax. A fixture at live music events throughout Atlantic Canada, Blaine and The Blues Own encourage blues artists to use The Blues Own as a vehicle to reach thousands of blues fans throughout Atlantic Canada.
In many respects "it's all I know" says Blaine. "I've been a blues hound since 1967 when I first heard John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers.
