Blue Stone Siamese Rattery chilling with the ratties. Posted at 2:11 AM Dec 2 from Mobile view more
About me: I am a new rattery in Maryland. I am registered with the North American Rat Registry (http://www.ratregistry.com) and breed under the prefix BSS. I will strive for happy, healthy, well-adjusted PET rats, and I will not CULL healthy rats, nor will I sell any rat as a feeder, or to be used to breed feeders.
I specialize in Russian Blues, (I hope to add Beige, Russian Beige, and Russian Blue Agouti in the future), and Seal Point Siameses. I hope to breed my first Russian Blue Point Siamese some time in the future. I have standard and dumbo eared rats, as well as standard, rex, and velveteen coated rats.
Blue Stone Siamese Rattery Page
http://bluestonesiamese.webs.com/ You have to cut and paste this link, since MySpace marks all links as suspicious links if they are not a myspace link.
Since so many people have asked, I thought I would include this on my page. Cages:
--The adult boys reside in a SuperPets My First Home For Exotics. I have a Wobust Wodent Wheel for them also.
--The adult girls are in a Martin's RUUD (modified) with two 11 inch wheels (one mesh and one Wodent Wheel Senior).
--The expectant mothers are housed in 10 or 20 gallon tanks a few days prior to their due date.
--Juveniles (sexes are seperate by 5 weeks old) are housed in smaller wire cages.
--My older females are awaiting a homemade wire cage with fewer levels and less sloped ramps so they can get around easier.
Food:
I feed Harlan Teklad lab blocks (2014 for adult boys, 2018 for females and juveniles), Natural Balance Reduced Calorie dog food (boys), and Natural Balance Vegetarian (females and youngsters) dog food. They get fresh fuit and veggies, along with a grain and pasta mix. (For the recipe I use, please email me. I will get it on here soon.) They also get "a little of this" and "a little of that" depending on what I'm eating. They love McDonald's chicken nuggets and go absolutely crazy for Oreo McFlurries! Moderation is the key, as I don't want obese rats. Rats are omnivorous, so some people food is ok for them. I also use spring water for their drinking water, as our water here has fluoride added, which isn't good for rats.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet other rat lovers, owners, and breeders.
I am also a member of several rat-related forums and groups online.

I'm trying to establish a nice rat community!
The group is mainly for PA rat owners but I would like to invite people from everywhere!
anyways good news it was just a really bad respatory glad i told them i wanted to try the meds first mouseys on meds and hes feels great hes makeing up for the time he wasnt feeling so good. poor little rat hes had all kinds of problems but hes still here. im not sure why he got sick i guess it could of been anything. i only payed around 5 bucks for him and spent a good 70 for him at the vet. but hes worth it
so mouse started breathing really hard 2 days ago with a lil sneezeing.
i tryed with some kids benadrill and he started feeling a little better but then he got really lazy so we went to the vet.
so i take him to the vet and they tell me its most likey heart failure ! and you know i wasnt ready to hear that !
then they said it could be a really bad respotory problem
i was not about to put him down inless i know for sure so they gave me antibiotics for the night and if he doesnt get better well i guess ill have no choice but to put him down i cant see him struggleing for air. so if the meds dont work i guess i wont have a choice hes only a year old..
i need to hear from someone that knows more about rats so im comming to you agian. please tell me what you think ..
Me too Sometimes I go a little crazy with lots of comments though lol Tinker is the Perfect name for Creeks mom She is nothing but Spunk! So playful and loves to kiss so much and sweet lil love nibbles on our ears I just love her to pieces! So I just might take you up on that offer when/if you do breed Creek...he is So gorgeous! I'm actually putting in Tink for one of my first two pairings in the beginning of Oct on or about Oct 5th I So can't wait...I'm hoping for cute lil sweeties around my birthday ~Holloween~ They may be born before, but maybe Oh, and all I do to get the pics that I get is take out my camera every time I have sweeties out...every once in a while I'll do a photoshoot, but most of my pics are from playtimes That, I think, is usually when I get the best pics
Awwww! Thanks so much for the pic comments I Love getting those LOL Actually I did finally figure that out about my sweet Georgia that it was rusting...I just had forgotten to change the caption for that one...Thanks so much , Naomi
I'm thinking that this SDA thing might be something that just snuck in from god knows where since I lost my chocolate male and seem to be losing all my chocolates and an older black male. Ugh such a hit to loose the chocolates.
Yeah That's Tink from SNR I'm So in love with this gorgeous sweetie Oooo So good to hear that you will be getting one of her boys I actually wish that I had picked out her daughter too...she looks just like her mommy
hi i got another rat question .. while mousey was hurt i never let him out of his cage and when he felt better i started to let him out alot more to make up for the long time he was in his cage. but now he chews on the metal bars on his cage (he does it cause he wants out ) and he knows it drives mommy crazy i dont think its good for him to chew metal . i have a spray bottle for my cat ive been useing on him when he does it .. but he caught on to quick and no he sees me grab for it and he runs in to his house so i cant spray him have any ideas on how to stop tis problem ?
Hey there. The dad does carry RED, but I do not think mom does after all (I guess it is still possible, since her father carried it, but out of the original 12 she had none were beige) but since I have a mink in this litter, both of my mentors (Keith at CBR and Nicole at ROK) think this little girl is actually a dove. My first double dilution! Also since she is so light, we are thinking she probably does carry RED, from what I understand mink is very affected by other dilutes that are hidden/carried. We are all very excited. Still cannot believe Poppy and Toby gave me mink!
Hey girl! I talked to Keith this morning - hang in there it WILL get better!! You have so much awsome breeder potential don't let this push you over the edge! We need more great breeders around here... we NEEEEEEED YOOOOOOOOOOOU! Stay strong!
Thanks for answering on my comments Those babies are So Adorable! Are they also going to be Siamese? Oh yeah, I've read much about when to best start breeding a doe. One of my girls that I am getting from Shylah on Sept. 5th is about 10 months old. Shylah has tried to get her pregnant with no success, so I was thinking that I will just take her home as a pet :) I was a bit sad about that though because I did want her as part of my program, but I also don't want to chance losing her because of it either though :( I'll just have to spoil her rotten extra as one of my sweet pets lol
Nice to meet you by the way :) If you ever want to just chat sometime I'm in myspace IM under bratr and also in AIM under BRATR09 :)
i got my book today and so far i read hafe its so nice to know what mousey is doinf when hes doing.. looks like ive been doing alot of things wrong start the next food run that little porker is going to be eatting alot more food thats good for hi and less junk no matter how much he blicks with his pretty red eyes.. btw his foot is great hes been running around the house non stop i shouldnt have done that cause now when i put him back in is looks at me like what are you doing ? but i thought he was cooped up in that cage long enought so he needed some exercize hes doing great
I'm glad to hear your little one is home safe and sound!! I'm glad you both made it through this ordeal!! I look forward to seeing pictures of both litters as they grow:)
Hi just want to let you know mousey is doing alot better hes walking on his foot. every now and then theres a limp .. but hes going much better thanks for all the help ... p.s. i still havent gotten my book .. i think it might of gotten lost .. or maybe its just takeing longer then i thought
I wanted to be the first one to the finish line to wish you a pleasant weekend. Hope it's restful and spent with you little furry or non-furry friend(s).
Hi just wanted to let you know how things where going .. i gave the rats back to there owner i got them from.. and mousey seems to be happy about that hes been runing around his cage and sleeping in his house...
i thought mosuey would like a friend but i was very wrong i know rats like to have a friend to cuddle and play with but hes just happy being by him self .
not like he spends a hole lot of time in his cage .. plus him and my dog are best firends and play with each other often .. mousey chases ecko then will stop and ecko will nudge him with her nose and mouseys on the chase again ..
if mousey does ever seem lonley and i do get him a friend ill take your advice and get him a young friend .. but i dont see it happening for awhile
thanks for the advice .. and mousey says thank you !
hey i got my cage i was talking about my first ferret home .. and i got mousey some friends they were givein to me one hairless he hides in his house all day and a i wanna say dumbo hes head a little wideish ...
and they dumbo has beeen fighting with mousey im guessing to me the big male ..
is there anything i can do to stop this .. ????
mouseys my baby i can have him feeling out of place in his own home .
