Nickelback. Country, especially songs by Sara Evans because they're in my vocal range. Norah Jones. Povertyneck Hillbillies.
OK, this isn't music, but it's an NPR radio program: "The Splendid Table."
Movies
Netflix makes so much money off me. I love movies; I just don't make time for them as much as I used to.
Television
I wish ... .
[Every time I'm visiting someone with cable or a dish and I think I'm going to satisfy my Food Network craving, wouldn't you know, that vapid semi-ho dabbler Sandra Lee is on. Never fails.]
Books
In no particular order [and in some cases I've just listed a writer.]: "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. Anything by WV native Pinckney Benedict. "Making a Literary Life" by Carolyn See. "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott. "Holy Cow" by Sarah Macdonald. "Motherless Brooklyn" by Jonathan Lethem. Ruth Reichl. Anthony Bourdain. Diane Mott Davidson. Joanne Fluke. Truman Capote. Gini Sikes. Elizabeth Gilbert. John Temple. More to come.
Heroes
Shelley Marshall. Working single moms, especially my mom and my SIL Gloria. I couldn't do it. Mike Blevins for his courage to follow his dreams. Erin, who moved to the big city alone and worked her way to a national newspaper. Nicole, who served in the Peace Corps and continues to go where she needs/wants to. John Saunders, Jan Bagby and Ed Austin, who introduced me to great books.

Pickup-driving occasionally self-deprecating sometime-narcissist. If I were a crayon, I'd be maize, periwinkle or copper -- one that comes in the 64 box, not the box of 8.
Favorite drink: Homebrewed iced mocha latte every morning. Mojitos, Manhattans, Cuba Libres, Jack-n-Cokes.
Favorite toy as a child: Mr. Microphone.
Summer or winter? Summer/fall.
What's under my bed: Guns. Seriously, hunting rifles and such in cases with gun locks on them, of course. Some dust bunnies and stray pillow feathers, too.
One of my greatest fears: That I'll push down the bread in the toaster and a flaming spider will run out of the slot and catch my house on fire like in "Arachnophobia."
Hey check out myspace.com/themerrimacs. We finally got some songs posted. The quality is poor and half the band is missing, but it is a start. Oh, and add us as your friend.
