BLUSH PHOTO

confidence. skill. style.

Started in 2006 by owner, lead photographer and Art Institute of Seattle alum Kristen Truax, Blush Photo has established itself as a go-to in the city’s photography scene. Currently serving as staff photographer for Sound Magazine, Truax has also contributed work to national magazines including GQ, Filter and Alternative Press, as well as regional titles Seattle Metropolitan and Seattle Weekly. Her work has also been featured on the websites for Filter and KEXP and has adorned the walls of the Gibson Guitar Showroom, McLeod Residence, Pretty Parlor, and live music venue Neumos, where she held reign as house photographer for more than a year.

As the leading lens of Blush, Truax has photographed Robert Plant, M.I.A., Fleet Foxes, Daniel Johnston, Ben Kweller, Death Cab for Cutie, Of Montreal and the Cure live in concert (to name only a few), and coordinated photo shoots for Sound Magazine with Brandi Carlile (Columbia), Dyme Def, Jaguar Love (Matador), the Saturday Knights (Light in the Attic), Grand Archives (Sub Pop) and Sera Cahoone (Sub Pop).

Blush has also photographed weddings on both coastlines in its 2-plus years, becoming a much-heralded resource for couples throughout the Northwest who seek out the company’s cutting edge style to capture their most important of days. That style-which prompted The Stranger’s Megan Seling to comment in an interview with Truax, “All your photos not only make people look sexy, but the subjects also look happy and confident-It’s unreal”-has become Blush’s trademark.

Truax has done ad work for Toyota, T-Mobile, Microsoft, Mackie, Wexley School for Girls and Dewers Whiskey, and was recently hired as the sole photographer consultant at the Seattle based Gibson Guitar Showroom. She served as staff photographer at the Experience Music Project and Sci-Fi Museum for two years, where she shot speakers Annie Leibovitz, Lou Reed and Steven Spielberg, as well as musicians George Clinton, The Donnas and Television. Blush Photo also volunteered its time and talent to a 2008 project benefiting Seattle charity Home Alive that featured KEXP’s John Richards, the Presidents of the United States of America and El Vez.

Nice things that have been said about Blush Photo and Kristen Truax:

"Kristen and Blush Photo were one of the better photo experiences I've had. It was a shoot where I was a little out of my element and comfort zone. She did a great job of making it a fun experience and I wouldn't hesitate to work with Blush again. Bottom line: Blush = Awesome.”
--John Richards, John in the morning, KEXP

"Local photographer Kristen Truax — behind the lens she goes by Blush Photo— captures the Seattle music scene in moments of cacophony, beauty, sweat, dirt, glory, pride, and abandon. She makes us, and them, look like we always know just where to be. " --Laura Cassidy, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine

"Both Kristen's portraits and live shots of Seattle's music scene are unequivocally A++ top-notch. We are beyond lucky to have her as a contributing photographer."
--Kelly O, The Stranger

"It has been our great pleasure working with Blush Photo. Kristen takes the most amazing shots, and delivers them in a timely fashion. Professional, with a personal touch and a such a pleasure to be around."
--Jenny Marsh, Gibson Guitar in Seattle

"Blush Photo treats my clients like royalty! Kristen's personality puts them at ease and her skill behind the lens produces gorgeous shots every single time!"
--Ashley Graham, WigPR

"Kristen Turax/Blushphoto Is a strength behind the camera. Her Eye for beauty and crispness in a shot that can tell the whole story of image, color and thought at the same time is remarkable. It is always a pleasure to work with such talent. Doing hair and Make-up for her photos for the last two years is so very exciting to know the best shot will be had."
--Tiffany Lowry, Hair and Make-up, owner of Olive and CEO Sunny Mood is Fashion LLC

“Kristen Truax is a pleasure to work with. We trust in her work completely and are proud that one of her photographs was chosen to represent McLeod Residence to a national audience in an article in GQ Magazine. I am looking forward to working with Blush Photo again at the beginning of 2008.”
--Chris Weber, Creative Director at McLeod Residence and Creator/Organizer of Rock Lottery

“Kristen is one of the few photographers I look forward to seeing. She uncannily manages to capture everyone’s true spirit at our events without making them seem posed. Her subjects all look like celebrities. However, when I am climbing out of my limo in a miniskirt sans underpants, she’s nowhere to be found. Lame.”
--Cal McAllister, Co-Owner, Wexley School For Girls

“Kristen is a joy to work with, and her creativity and enthusiasm makes for terrific photos. She photographed The 2007 Henry Bash and the summer Fashion Show at the Henry, and at both events she took great photos that we've been able to share with our Patrons and use in museum marketing materials.”
--Betsey Brock, Communications and Outreach Manager at Henry Art Gallery

"Kristen has photographed every major event we have ever produced. And for good reason. Blush Photo captures the moment like no other, and I'm constantly amazed by her energy, tenacity and spirit. And her photos? Flawless, simply flawless."
--Kindra Meyer, Lucky Clam Productions, McLeod Residence & Wexley School for Girls

"I have worked with Kristen and Blush Photo professionally for on-site project photography for BIGink llc as well as personally for portrait work and have always been very pleased with outcome and have enjoyed the process. Kristen has the rare blend of personal style in her work with an ego-less approach which yields great results. I look forward to a continued partnership with Blush Photo."
--Brad Kilgore, Account Executive, BIGink LLC

"Kristen is as nice as pie."
--Three Imaginary Girls, Seattle WA
