A cosmic experience with a finger on the pulse of today's deepest funktronica grooves!
With their brand new release, “sMashed :: Best of BLUSIRKUT Live”, the musicians of 'KDTU' deliver a fresh new sound for rump-shaking aficionados searching for the perfect groove. BLUSIRKUT subtly blends 'St. Germaine' style riffs and 'Thievery Corporation' beats with the improvisational dynamic of a live band - infusing their long and distinguished history as industry leading jazz/funk musicians with cutting edge technology. The band's visualist/VJ also performs tightly integrated 'live' visuals designed in direct counterpoint to the music...
Initially introduced to each other through Karl Denson, these virtuosos have played venues around the world from the Fillmore in San Francisco to Madison Square Garden and the Blue Note in Tokyo. They have pioneered ground-breaking grooves on a global stage for years and now they have unleashed their full talent and imagination into this deliciously experimental live dance music, surpassing all expectations and leaving current dance culture in the dust.
What started as a collaboration in the recording studio quickly became a full blown project to explore new styles (Hip-Hop, Nu-Jazz, Drum-&-Bass, etc.), ultimately harvesting the best qualities of these sounds to perform live what most musicians can only accomplish in a studio. ::BLUSIRKUT:: is the sublime union of technology and talent, experience and enlightenment - serving as a platform for the next generation of production, composition & expression. Armed with an arsenal of digital tools - combined with a stunning array of traditional instruments and techniques - their sole intent is simple, they make you move... and they're good at it...

Well I'm in Nashville with a night off on tour .On the One is performing here tomorrow night . When I got into town I called my friend, singer /songwriter Steph Callahan to say hi and see what's up. She informed me that guitarist Reggie Wooten plays every Wed, here in town. So I go down there pay my 5 bucks and go in the bar expecting to here and see one of the baddest guitar players on the planet do his thing. As it turns out his little bass playing brother Victor was by rare chance, in the house. I and around 30 other nice folks were treated to an hour long jam that included a slew of tunes by James Brown, Prince, and yes Mike Jackson. Victor, the four time grammy winning bassit for Bella Fleck, happens to be one of my heros and has been a significant source of positivity and influence in my playing and personal life. In recent years as I have underwent some big changes surrounding my alcohol and drug issues. Victor has been a positive and uplifting force in my recovery and transition into a new way of living. I had the pleasure of briefly meeting this man that has been so important to me and was able to shake his hand for the first time. I once was very convinced that there was no god and that I had no good purpose on this earth. Today my oppinion is quite different and I have a great amount graditude for Victor his messages and his mastery. I'm left feeling like our meeting tonight was arranged by my higher power whome I choose to call my loving god.
