The production team of Black and Danse consisting of Black and the Sundanse Kidd, hail from the former city of Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto. Scarborogh is widely known for being one of the grittiest parts of Toronto. Both Members of this team have been avid fans of Hip Hop since the early 80’s. This team was unofficially formed roughly ten years ago over a blunt and a forty oz. of Schlitz, while on afternoon spare from the area high school, which due to funding problems no longer exists. At the time, Sundanse Kidd was a local DJ craving vinyl while Black was an aspiring producer collecting equipment. The two of us started exchanging our knowledge and in no time Black and Danse was formed.
Black and Danse were and still are adamant fans of street hip hop and always attempt to incorporate a rugged feel into our beats. Although we like to maintain the rugged and raw feel, we understand the importance of diversity and continue to update our catalogs with a variety of different styles.
With that being said Black and Danse material can range from hardcore to a more grown and sexy smoothed out sound. We definitely believe in the seriousness of what we are doing, but realize that what got us involved with hip hop was having fun!
Black speaking of his love of hip hop -
"Yes I agree that not everything you do is going to be liked by everybody, and yes not everything you do will adhere to everybody’s definition of hip hop, but I’m not trying to be a billion dollar super producer. I’m trying to contribute to something that has contributed to my personal growth, as well as the growth of millions of other people around the world. There are dudes right now who have blessed the mic with lyrics that could destroy any of these wackass mc’s that get there shine. There are producer that could do things that would make today’s greats break there mpc’s in frustrations, but yet there in the streets hustling yayo, or driving taxi’s. You call it crazy. I say they have honor and love for this shit. That’s what hip hop is, a code of honor, from b-boys battling, to graffiti artist tagging, to mc ripping mics. There has always been honor, even when you got told about your momma’s nappy head."
