"Though the cover for Bump & Grind’s ABSTRACT THEME VARIATIONS, features a cat and a slab of vinyl, there’s less scratching here than you’d think. Instead, lots of heavy, processed beats and lots of atmospheric melodies. “Ear(th)Eye(d)” has that IDM abstraction that makes your toes curl with pleasure, while “Bad Night, Last Dream” has a dark sci-fi sound, which brightens into “Ring Modulation.” The pounding kick drum of “2099 A.Disco” is relentless in its demand that you dance, and the symphonic clatter of “Tibet” makes it sound like an industrial wasteland, rather than a Buddhist paradise. “Shortcut Latino Fevered” puts in some off-kilter breaks, while the short “Nobel Prizes” melds melancholy and house. “Railway Melody” starts with a train-inspired rhythm and some cinematic strings that end after two minutes. Five minutes later a new song starts up with a more IDM-flavored tune that slips into a Detroitian soundscape for the last 2 minutes. Fascinating, if a little puzzling overall." (from Discogs.com)
