Sounds Like
old time duets with an occasional swedish fiddle tune
Bob and Lynn Dixon sing songs and play tunes from the old-time tradition—Carter Family, Delmore Brothers, Doc Watson and others—as well as “new” old songs from the likes of Norman Blake, Gillian Welch, and Tim O’Brien. Expect to hear songs about trains, cowboys, outlaws, hard times, good times, lost love, and perhaps a Swedish fiddle tune, a little guitar flatpicking, and some mandolin/fiddle duos.
Bob and Lynn are a “member band” of the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association (MBOTMA). Bob has placed first in the Senior Division in the Minnesota Flatpicking Guitar Championship at the state fair for the last three years. Bob and Lynn placed third in the MBOTMA Duet Competition in 2006.
Bob & Lynn have performed at many MBOTMA events including the MBOTMA Homegrown Kickoff, the Stone Arch Festival of the Arts, Bill Cagley’s Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Showcase, and at coffee houses and private parties. They are also active in the contradance band ‘Danebodium’.
