FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Baldwin Launches NewUrbanJazz
and Welcomes Affiliates
Baldwin continues
to broaden the palette of contemporary jazz in the hearts and minds of music
lovers worldwide.
PRESS RELEASE/NEW YORK,
NY - New York native and
International Recording Artist Bob Baldwin has 20+ years in the business as a
recording artist and has worked with the best, from George Benson to Grover
Washington, Jr., Chuck Loeb, Marion Meadows and Phil Perry, to name a select
few. His efforts in programming stations around the country have included
Jacksonville, Fl., Bermuda and Atlanta (WCLK) before working for WJZZ. He
furthered the development of the 'NewUrbanJazz Lounge" at WJZZ from Feb., 2008
until they flipped formats in January, 2009. It was there where "The New Urban
Jazz Lounge" on WJZW, but the idea developed when I jumped back into radio in
2004. The genre was still doing pretty well and stations were all over the east
coast, however after CD101.9 jumped ship, the PD's around the country got
nervous and followed suit. The bottom line of this hard lesson is that even
though the stations have flipped formats, the people were not wiped off the
earth and they still seek the next hot jazz tune and they are seeking
alternative means to getting their music."
You can
currently hear The NewUrbanJazz Lounge in 5 markets, WEIB/Springfield,
WHOV/Hampton, WVSU/Birmingham, WJAB/Huntsville, and WFSK/Nashville,
with more to follow. Simply pick a station on your left and click the listen
live button. There are plans in place to expand the network via radio and the
internet.....stay tuned.
Baldwin's Radio
resume runs deep, first interning at WBLS under the legendary late Frankie
Crocker and now-former CD101.9 smooth Jazz Radio Guru Pat Prescott (now at the
WAVE/LA). He later pursued his musical career, releasing his first disc in 1989,
which garnered him the Sony Innovators Award. Baldwin continues to forge
careers in business, music and radio.
