I am a life-long campaigner and Leader of the Australian Greens. Since becoming a Senator in 1996 I have introduced bills on a range of humanitarian and environmental issues, such as banning mandatory sentencing of Aboriginal children, supporting death with dignity laws, calling for truth in food labeling, for forest protection, blocking radioactive waste dumping, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the use of solar energy in Australia. I have a house on the Liffey River beneath snowy Drys Bluff in central Tasmania.
I was working in the casualty ward of St Mary Abbott’s Hospital in London, when an ambulance screamed to the door at 11.20am on September 18, 1970. I didn’t have the time to pay much attention – I was attending to a man who had been run over by a train - when I went over to see the new patient, it was legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
I am a keen photographer and recently held my second photographic exhibition in Hobart, Tasmania. The slideshow below is a collection of some of my favourite photographs. www.greenart.com.au

It was such a pleasure to see you today. I hope that my driving got you to the airport in time to catch your plane. Maybe we will meet again next week. I'm sure that your photographic exhibition will be wonderful. Congratulations! You are a great photographer and a wonderful person. Love from your Canberra admirer Leslie aka ViVi with the pink hair This is a photo of one of my jungle paintings. I would love to come down and do a series of paintings in 'your' forests! And/or a portrait of you!
Dear Bob - read the news this morning. I am very distressed and worried. Any chance of any benefit concerts anywhere to raise the monies for the ratbags? Many blessings to you, Dr Brown in all your endeavours. I hope to be reading good news in the paper very shortly. Love, Rosie Haden
Well that was weird last night - you smiling on GNW (obvious pre-record) then first ad break was for the News and your need for a few hundred thousand in cash (at 10:47pm more details etc) Checked behind the couch and might have some but not enough :( Good luck, honestly.
hi bob. im a little depressed at the treatment of activists trying to protect the environment, and its not looking like a good idea for me to be down there helping. what would you suggest i do? surely it is a human right to protect the environment?
Heya bob...sophie wyness here..heard you were coming to the uk sometime this year...if you are it would be great to see you! if you are we'll probably come down to London and say hello, so let us know.
Just checked out some of your pics online, unfortunately I can't be in Hobart to check out the exhibition :( I see close ups are becoming your thing - they are fantastic!! Keep up the good work Bob!
Greens senator Bob Brown described MV Steve Irwin as the most important vessel to visit Hobart in his lifetime and condemned the Federal Government for not taking a harder stance against the Japanese whaling fleet.
"What we see here is global citizens' action replacing a spineless backdown by governments here and everywhere who should be taking maximum action to make sure these whales are protected," Senator Brown said.
Japan's whaling fleet set off in mid-November with plans to kill whales under the guise of scientific research. __________________ Sea Shepherd is not a protest organization. Hello Bob, I listened to you speak in Bellingen. Thankyou for being so inspiring, sometimes I despair about the earth and mankind but you gave me a boost. My daughter enjoyed it too. We'll keep up the good fight....
Mr Brown, Pleasure to be a myspace friend! I have been a 'fan' of yours for a long time now. Im a Tasmanian (always wondered whether that Hendrix story was true!) born in Burnie, now a musician living in Melbourne. I have a song on my myspace site called The Low Road which you may be interested in. It concerns, fundamentally, long-term thinking over short-term gratification which I know you are all about (in fact I think it was you who played a considerable part in putting that way of thinking into my head) and I wish was more prevalent in all humans. Anyway, check out the song if you have time, and keep up the good work! Sincerely, Van Walker.
Bob, I'd just like to thankyou for the incredible bravery, commitment and generosity of spirit you've shown throughout your life. I've just finished reading a book about you by Peter Thompson, as well as 'Memo for a Saner World' and found both very inspiring. Keep fighting the good fight for our environment- it's great to hear the Greens support base is growing. I'm hoping to get involved with TWS in Tassie someday soon. :)
