Bob's Blurbs |
About me:
I was born at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on August 5, 1976. I grew up in Redford Township and moved to South Lyon with my family in 1990. I graduated from South Lyon High School in 1995 and attended Albion College where I double-majored in Political Science and Economics & Management. In 1998 I interned at the White House where I worked with Assistant to the President for Economic Policy Gene B. Sperling and the staff of the National Economic Council.
After graduating from Albion College in 1999, I moved to Detroit and began working as a management and technology consultant with Accenture (then known as Andersen Consulting), the world’s leading provider of management and technology consulting services and solutions. In September 2001, I was one of more than 1,500 employees affected by Accenture’s US workforce reduction. I used the layoff as an opportunity to answer the call to public service by becoming the Assistant to the City Manager of Oak Park, MI in October 2001.
While working in Oak Park, I earned a Master’s of Public Administration at Wayne State University. I bought a home in Ferndale in 2002 and began volunteering with the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority as Chairman of the Economic Restructuring Committee. I was also a member of Ferndale’s Cool Cities Advisory Group and served on the Troy/Allen Project Selection Committee.
I became the Assistant City Manager of Ypsilanti in August 2004. In Ypsilanti, I directed the City’s Human Resources and Recreation Departments as well as the City’s public information and information technology functions. In addition, I served as the Acting City Manager in the Manager’s absence.
I became Ferndale’s City Manager on February 12, 2007. My wife Kelly and I reside in Ferndale with our daughter Audrey.

Who I'd like to meet:
Ferndaliens interested in their City government.
Students interested in careers in professional local government management.
My goal is to provide you with an opportunity to learn a little bit about me both personally and professionally. This is your chance to find out what the City Manager does for you and what is happening with your local government.
What’s on your mind? What do you want to know about?
