  • Bio

.. .................. ___________________________________________ .... A couple of reviews/recommendations for Bob Burke:.... "'Shadow of Mercury' is a delicate and beguiling solo project from an incredibly attentive and talented musician" - Lisa Willmot, BHOne.... "Bob Burke not only produced my debut album, What are you Singing About?, but also managed all the arrangements for the tracks and played many of the instruments. The success of my debut album - which has included national BBC radio 2 airplay (Wake up to Wogan and The Ken Bruce Show) and secured slots at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Greenbelt festivals - would not have been possible without Bob's talents. I hope the future will bring me the opportunity to work with Bob again..." - Lou Brown (recommendation on 'linkedin.com').... ______________________________.... Bob Burke - Brief summary of who I am now:.... I am an acoustic funk-folk singer-songwriter and I collaborate with other songwriters in the New Forest/Bournemouth area, operating as musician (guitar, bass, keys, vocals), arranger and/or producer. I am not a session musician - I only work with musicians of my choice for musical reasons and I produce recordings because I would like to own them myself and I like doing it! (ie. please don't contact me with a 'production job' for some numpty who wants to sound like Kylie/Elvis/Lily Allen/Bert Weedon!).... I am also a senior lecturer in popular music at Southampton Solent University. .... ____________.... STOP PRESS: .... Bob Burke is performing at ..PURBECK FOLK FESTIVAL.. in September 2010.... ____________.... Recent work:.... In June 2007, I toured Russia with Sudarshan (including a gig in a 'disused' firing range!), took a songwriting trip across France and Switzerland, and did the usual UK festival trail for the rest of the summer. The year finished with a sell-out tour of Ireland with Tinderbox (covering bass duties). Those guys are animals - it was like being on the road with Motley Crue!!!.... February 2008 saw the release of solo album 'Shadow of Mercury' which was followed by a US tour, featuring an extensive string of dates across Chicago and the mid-west with Lou Brown and Aimee Newsome-Stone, solo shows in New York, LA and Santa Barbara, and an impromptu performance in the lounge car of the train from Chicago to LA (the train ran out of beer and spirits and I was lucky not to be forcibly ejected in the middle of the Arizona desert!).... 2008-10 has seen Tinderbox release two albums, 'Golden' and 'State of Play', which I played and sung on, and further live shows with Lou Brown, Victor Chetcuti, Steve Skaith and solo. .. ...... .. .. .. ..

    Hey Bobby,

Thought you might like to have a read of this, you get a special mention! Hope your good and all is well. We need to hook up at some point so I can get you sign the PPL royalty form so you can get royalties for any airplay on the "what are you singing about" album. I'm not sure if you can backdate the PPL royalties but we might, I'm gonna look into it. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
