Bio

ARTIST: Bobby Doran (Singer-songwriter) GENRE: Alternative / Pop / Acoustic So this is my story about what brought me here to my life of songwriting and performing. Some say to have someone write your bio, or to write in the 3rd person... Well, no one else could tell my story better than me, and this is what you get! Yes, I've been all over the country doing it. I've met so many fantastic people, and played at so many great places, blah, blah :) Amazing times, and times where I need to pinch myself to know that I'm still alive. There are more memories and stories than I can fit into my brain. I guess the best I can do is write about these experiences. Maybe you, the listener and reader can relate. Even if you can't possibly relate, I'm still going to do what I do and love doing it. MY STORY: I grew up in that small state... what's it called again? I think everyone has there own little guilty pleasure growing up, with me it was collecting stuff- Like Baseball cards. My dad would take me to the card store and let me choose 2 packs of 50 cent Topps cards (the ones with the stale bubblegum inside. I would try my luck every time and fill up the entire set. I think sooner or later comic books began taking over my card collecting life. When I wasn't playing sports, or going to school I'd be reading comics religiously. I read just about everything I could get my hands on, and I'm pretty sure that Batman and Spider-man were my favorites. I was obsessed, so much I think my first dream was to be a comic illustrator. I look back at these times when I was a kid and can see how as soon as I found music, it was like a drug... I needed as much as I could find and borrow from my cousins and friends. I wanted to be the guy I saw on TV, either banging on the drums, screaming into the microphone, or ripping the epic guitar solo at Wembley Stadium. When I was 13, I got an electric guitar, took some lessons from a real rocker, this metal-head; Ozzy Tribute Band guy. He was an amazing teacher, and I learned to shred. At the least, I learned how to get comfortable playing and be able to listen to a CD, or the radio and try to figure out the notes on my own. I would play constantly. I was obsessed with it. I didn't really write my own music until I was 17 or so. I didn't sing, so I just recorded guitar parts onto cassette tape. My first time singing in front of people I was a nervous wreck, I guess no one can truly tell you what it's like to stand up in front of a crowd and give them something you wrote. I'm glad I took the plunge, because I can't even fathom my life without it. MY MUSIC: I'm based in Denver, Colorado, as a solo act who does live looping, and once upon a time, the Bobby Doran Acoustic Trio, and band called The Satellite Disco. By "Live Looping", I mean I record drum beats, bass lines, soloing and vocal delays / harmonies, all with one guitar and microphone, all live. TOURING / CONCERTS & MORE: In my travels, I've done some driving, across Colorado, and nationwide, promoting my music from New York to Los Angeles, Minnesota, Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Lubbock, Phoenix, Albuquerque, San Diego, Boston, Omaha, to name a few. College gigs include: CSU, UNM, UCSD, CU Boulder, DU, JWU, UNC, Western State, UCCS, Metro State, CSU-Pueblo. Some notable Colorado concert venues: The Gothic, Oriental Theater, Herman's Hideaway, Starlight Theater, Thirsty Parrot (32 Bleu), Hard Rock Cafe, Dickens Opera House, State Highway Theater, The Toad Tavern, Baker St Pubs, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Avogadro's Number, along with all kinds of small bar/restaurant, corporate parties, benefit events, etc. Let try 3rd person again: He was nominated by the Pikes Peak Arts Association for Performer of the Year, has shared the stage with National Acts, including Mason Jennings and Michael Franti & Spearhead, Blues Traveler and Teitur. Life only hands you one web-page for putting your modesty aside, so thanks for letting me have fun, be real, l and tell you a little something about myself! More @ www.bobbydoran.com
