About me:

I’m the VP of the family business, Confer Plastics, Inc. which has two facilities located in North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls, New York. The company has been in operation since 1973. I work with more than 170 great people and we make a wide variety of products ranging from consumer goods to industrial products to national defense items. Since July of 2005 I have written a weekly opinion column for the four newspapers that make up the Greater Niagara Newspapers in Niagara & Orleans counties in Western New York. These columns look at issues in government (local, state, national, and international), economics and science. You can read all of my columns online at my website, http://BobConfer.net

In a similar vein, since July of 2009 I have written the occasional column for the online and print versions of the New American which is the official magazine of the John Birch Society. These columns, national and international in scale, follow the same approach I take with my newspaper columns and fit nicely with the Society's mission of "Less Government, More Responsibility, and — With God's Help — a Better World." When I’m not working or analyzing the world we live in my interests include: Enjoying The Farm, fishing, hunting, camping, observing wildlife, weightlifting, CB radio, newspapers, public service (Boy Scouts, Leadership Niagara, SUNY Brockport) and watching Brockport college hockey (go Golden Eagles!).
