Learning, reading (Home is where the books are), history, The United States of America (especially the works of the founders), writing, animals (including humans), skepticism, motorcycling (Ducatis!), bicycling, photography, creating and performing music, lighthouses, religion/mythology/philosophy, birdwatching, science in general, gardening, military aviation, pro football, things Russian/Soviet, antique and contemporary handmade marble, various other stuff. I am quietly obsessed with understanding space-time and the nature of the universe.
Music
I like anything honest, pretty much regardless of genre. Likewise, I despise phony music and phony musicians. I love the blues (especially Howlin Wolf, BB King, Albert Collins, Smokin Joe Kubek, Guitar Shorty, Lil' Cliff and the Cliffhangers, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Robert Belfour, Watermelon Slim, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, John Hammond...), but I also am into heavy guitar stuff like Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Joe Stump, Paul Gilbert, Racer X, old Metallica, old Savatage, Megadeth, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rush, Spinal Tap, Black Label Society, Testament, Black Sabbath, Metal Church, Overkill, Slayer, Dio, Ozzy, Accept, System Of A Down, Pantera, Slough Feg, Rammstein, Hammerfall, Symphony X, Urbansnake, Brainstorm, Sonata Arctica, Gamma Ray, Warmachine, Dream Evil, Stratovarius, Dragonforce, Rhapsody, Nocturnal Rites... I find aggressive angry metal to be relaxing. I dig bluegrass (even if the hokey lyrics make me groan at times). Lately I have taken a liking to rockabilly and surf rock.
Howlin' Wolf's only nationally-televised appearance:
Movies
I'm not a rabid movie guy, although I do like the Indiana Jones movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, good sci-fi, political (especially Cold War) thrillers, Monty Python and the Holy Grail...
Television
My television watching is pretty sporadic (Joe Queenan says that TV killed the working class autodidact)... Nature and science shows; science fiction. Mythbusters. Nova. Survivorman. Mantracker. Deadliest Catch. Dr. Who. Torchwood. Stargate. Anything Star Trek. Mr. Bean. Black Adder. And pro football. Shows I loved as a kid: The Flintstones, Looney Tunes (Bugs Bunny is still one of my favorite Western philosophers), Gilligan's Island, Get Smart, F Troop, The Munsters, Magilla Gorilla, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo, Underdog, Hong Kong Phooey...
Books
I usually read books about science (especially physics and neuroscience); logic/philosophy; religion/mythology; music history and musical instruments; history (I'm partial to the histories of the US, Egypt, and Russia/Soviet Union, as well as world lighthouse history); science fiction; and whatever seems really interesting. Anything by Thich Nhat Hanh, Jared Diamond, Joseph Campbell, or Richard Dawkins. I also read lots of magazines (Scientific American, Discover, Cycle World, Motorcyclist, American Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, Road Racer X, Guitar Player, Guitar World, Bass Player, Skeptical Inquirer, American Legion, The Keeper's Log, others). My second book (New York State Lighthouses) was released on July 3, 2006. Click on the image below to read about it on Amazon.com.
People who work to help the innocent and helpless, people who speak the truth in the face of the masses who do not want to hear it, people who stand up for honesty and freedom, Albert Einstein, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Joseph Campbell, Stephen Hawking, Jane Goodall, the Buddha, Thich Nhat Hanh, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf...

Bob Müller had a fun time at JDs Place tonight. Great bands. There was definitely some rockabilly fever with The Hornets and The Buzzards. Posted at 6:51 AM Nov 26 view more

Who I'd like to meet: Honest, intelligent human beings with a passion for life. People who aren't afraid to stand up for what is right. Ducatisti. Brights. Buddhists. And, of course, people from other space-time dimensions.

How many motorcycle lines create this sort of passion?
THE MERCS LIVE AT THE L.I. ROLLER REBELS ROLLER DERBY CHAMPIONSHIP
Great Wolf video from The Shindig Show. The Stones were invited to play. The Stones said the only way they would do it was if The Wolf could play on the show with them. Great stuff.
I made my first video slideshow and wanted to share it with you. The musician (Elizabeth Ann Middleton) is one I found through MySpace, and she generously let me use her music to set to my images. Visit her MySpace page here - http://www.myspace.com/pianorama - she's fantastic! :-)
Walk All Over You, Crossfire, Back In Black and a little You Shook Me All Night Long...These guys are going to be good - with some practice...Just you wait!
That should work. Was thinking about taking Daniela out that way tomorrow... leave around 10am or so, do a nice ride out east and hit up one of the attractions (zoo) on the way back.
