BOB PALTROW AND THE PATRIOTS OF TOMORROW are based in Bellingham, Washington. This Rock-pop-hiphop-funk-grunge-folk quartet pumps out edgy socio-political songs with a humorous twist and danceable hooks. The music covers a wide spectrum of influences, reminiscent of such diverse artists as David Bowie, Elton John, ColdPlay, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones. Featuring Bob Paltrow on lead vocals, keys and guitar; Cheri Nunamaker on lead guitar and vocals; Bill Sterling on bass and vocals; and drummer Chuck Kitterman. The feel of the music ranges from ethereal tripped-out space rock, to tender ballads, to driving rock rage.
SONGWRITER/KEYBOARDIST BOB PALTROW pens songs that draw upon the issues and absurdities of our time, but framed within contagious hooks and memorable riffs. Bob studied classical and jazz piano for over 10 years, having spent several years under the private tutelage of Tucson jazz great Mickey Greco, yet still managed to flunk out of the University of Arizona college of music. Nevertheless, Paltrow has created music in several genres, having put out an acoustic piano cd titled "Carousel", reminiscent of George Winston. Paltrow has also played in a number of Bellinghams bands, including the fresh acoustic fusion of pop-folk group Akaraka; Afro-Latin Jazz sextet Voice of the Village; the Craig Olson Band; Pagan folk rockers Cedar Moon; and had the dubious distinction of being (and possessing) the sole male member of Bellingham girrrl rockers Your Highness, featuring Cheri Nunamaker on lead guitar.
The three other members of the group - CHERI NUNAMAKER on guitar; BILL STERLING on Bass; and CHUCK KITTERMAN on drums share a common thread from their collective musical past: they were 3/5 of the rave-up Bellingham band The Clay People - one of Bellingham's most popular rock bands of the early '90's.
GUITARIST CHERI NUNAMAKER formed the Patriots of Tomorrow with Paltrow in 2006. Cheri's distinctive guitar stylings and crunchy sonic manipulations add a melodic and emotional flair to the songs. Nunamaker's leads are the 6-string equivalent of an otherworldy voice behind the vocals: sometimes fiery assault; other times dissonant feedback; often harmonious riffing.
BASSIST BILL STERLING has been a stalwart of the Bellngham music scene for many years, and perhaps posseses the most diverse oeuvre of cultural musical influences. Besides being the funky bottom end of the Clay People and laying it down for The Patriots of Tomorrow, Bill's resumé includes playing bass AND tuba for the popular klezmer band What The Chelm.
DRUMMER CHUCK KITTERMAN's powerful drumming style and amazing sense of dynamics, coupled with his impeccable ability to shift gears on a dime, are what set audiences' feet a-tappin' and bodies bouncin' on the dance floor.
