Having multiple personalties means never having to play alone. (OK, settle down in there you guys). And a one and a two and a three and a four....
Influences
Here are some of the people who have influenced me but there are others... lots of others. I'm copying this off of my solo set list for this but if I were still in a band it would be a larger list. (Does that make sense?). Here goes... in no particular order. DELBERT MCCLINTON, JEFF HEALEY, J.J. CALE, NEIL YOUNG, JOHN HIATT, DONOVAN, BOB SEEGER, MARK KNOPFLER, JOHN LOUDERMILK, JIMMY REID, DAVID BROMBERG, HARRY NILLSON, ALL THE MEMBERS OF 'TRAFFIC' INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, WILSON PICKETT, KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD, RANDY NEWMAN, ALL THE MEMBERS OF 'THE GRATEFUL DEAD' INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, SHAKE RUSSELL, JIMMY BUFFET, DAVID WILCOX, AL COOPER, ALL THE MEMBERS OF 'CSNY' INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, KEB MO, TOM PETTY, BOB DYLAN (OH,YEAH BOB DYLAN FOR SURE), STEVIE (GUITAR) MILLER,..... WHEW......... The list goes on forever and the party never ends...
Sounds Like
Geese farts on a muggy day. (OK, I stole that line from a Leo Kottke album liner note).
About Bob Sarnataro - A very happy musician/songwriter
I've been in and out of bands most of my adult life (notice I didn't say grown up life). I started out playing piano when I was 10 and quit when I was 16...(Dang them hormones). When I got to college I decided that a piano was too hard to take out to the beach so I switched to guitar. What a long strange trip it's been!!! Right now I'm happiest when I'm hosting an open stage and giving new performers a venue to sharpen their performance skills. My first public performance was an open stage so I know it's a great way to work on your 'chops'. It's been really cool to watch some of the regulars who started out tentatively evolve into polished acts.
Yeah, I still like getting together with the 'bandies' from my past now and then for a 'pick-up' gig or just a good ole' jam session. I should do more of that.
Random thoughts; My dad was a guitar player before me and altho I inherited a few of his guitars, I wish I had inherited more of his talent.
My fantasy death scenario (Whaaat? who has a fantasy death scenario?) is to die onstage, during a lightning storm, clutching a microphone and playing a loud, sustained, distortion-driven power chord, after saying "GOOD NIGHT YOU'VE BEEN A GREAT AUDIENCE".......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAP.
The songs posted on this site are all original. I know, the recordings suck and sometimes you can hear me coughing or hear my dog barking in the background. I swear I'm in the process of re-recording them to get cleaner and more polished versions of them. I just wanted to get something out there for now. These are essentially practice tapes, made for me to hear what I had written so far. They were never meant for public consumption.
but here they are anyway.
