Bodesattva is a band hailing from New Orleans that consists of drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, and saxophone and every member of the band also sings. Bodesattva draws on the wide range of experience of its members to create a unique style of music that includes original compositions and covers. As all are experienced jazz musicians, jazz standards make up part of the repertoire but they put a unique spin on their arrangements to truly make them their own. Funk and R&B legends such as the Meters, P-Funk, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder also influence this band by providing a library of excellent cover material and also influencing the original compositions of the band members. Hip-Hop provides another strong influence and Bodesattva can often be heard playing songs by The Roots, Outkast, Alicia Keys, and Cee-Lo Green among others. Various world musics including Reggae and Salsa also influence the sound as well as the classics of Rock and Roll including Cream and The Beatles. Bodesattva hopes to make a name for itself in New Orleans as a great band that always does something a little different but always makes the audience have fun.
