"Sometimes we believe that happiness is not possible in the here and the now; we need a few more conditions to be happy. So we run towards the future to get the conditions we think are missing. But by doing so we sacrifice the present moment, we sacrifice true life."
~ Thich Nhat Hanh ~
wishing you peace and harmony

The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.

~I Hope You Have a Peaceful Weekend~

To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance.
A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky.
Rushing by, like a torrent down a steep mountain.

Peace and Love to you always~

depends entirely upon the quality of the first spark
today i walked through a supermarket and my eyes fell on a fish seller who was busy chopping live fish into pieces. at his side was an aquarium with many more live fishes awaiting the fate of being cut up into pieces. and i thought to myself: what kind of karma is it that lets one experience such a terrible experience? and then the voice in my head answered: look at the fish seller, he cuts up those living beings without mercy. the fishes in this aquarium have been fish sellers in their previous lives and now they are fishes. and in his future lives the fish seller will be a fish in an aquarium as this one you see, until he comes to love and respect for all life forms as equal to himself.
i decided to buy some of the fish. and i asked the man to give them to me alive and unharmed. he wondered why i would like to take them alive. and i said: i will bring them to a river so that they will enjoy the freedom and the joy of life they are entitled to by birth right.
i set off a ripple in his mind that will grow and transform his life. and as he comes to insight, he will be buying fish to set them free in the future, and tell other fish sellers why he does this. in this way the world of fishes will be healed ripple by ripple until the ripples fill the ocean.
Chief Seattle said: you cannot take away what you cannot give.
Jesus said: what you do to the least of my children you do to me.
Buddha said: what we send out into the world comes back to us.
how we live our lives will determine what kind of life we will have.
one does not have to go far to set off a new peace movement.
it can be done right in front of our eyes.
just be a spark of compassion.
there is nothing more to a buddha's way of life
peace and joy be with you
and may life be kind to you
thank you my friend

There is a Tibetan saying,"Retain your reverence and admiration for the person, but subject the writing to thorough critical analysis."
This demonstrates a healthy attitude and illustrates the Buddhist tradition known as the approach of the four reliances.
Do not rely merely on the person, but on the words.
Do not rely merely on the words, but on their meaning.
Do not rely merely on the provisional meaning, but on the definitive meaning, and,
Do not rely merely on the intellectual understanding, but on the direct experience.

May you bless the world rather than curse the world...
for love heals a heart & light overcomes darkness.
REMEMBER YOUR OWN HOLINESS, feel it in your heart,
then share that joy/peace with all you meet.
GOD IS IN THE SHARING. Love, Lalita
