BodyforLifeHeather Getting beach body ready! Cali in 48 days... taking it to the top 3 months post-partum from my C-Section. Are you beach body ready? Don't waste the summer procr view more
I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS)(i.e "Metabolic Syndrome X") that caused me to have fertility problems, and gain enormous amounts of weight when I did get pregnant, (70 lbs!) and I ended up with gestational diabetes. Nine months after having my baby I had only lost 20 lbs. and still had a waistline of 41 inches! The Air Force told me I had 4 months to lose 40 lbs. or I would be considered for "paperwork" and discharge.
I had 12 years invested in my career in the military...how could they do this?! I felt like a failure, and was extremely frustrated because this "Syndrome X" metabolic disorder has been linked to Type-2 diabetes and makes it almost impossible to lose weight because of insulin resistance.
I joined an online support group for PCOS and became a "feel sorry for myself and chat with others about it" person who hated life as a fat person with lack of energy, deteriorating goals, and no credibility in the military because I was not a "role model of fitness."
I read up on some research that reported weight loss being possible for people with "Syndrome X" and PCOS by gaining lean muscle to support proper use of insulin in your body.
It was either take charge of my fitness and my life, or be discharged from the military, lose my career that I already had 12 years invested in, and wind up with Type-2 Diabetes. So, I took on the Body for Life Challenge!

Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet Bill Phillips, Josh Sundquist, Shane Thomas, and all those who are Body for Life Champions. Hmmm...who else would I like to meet? Well, I have a little cancer patient who has been waiting to meet George W. Bush in replacement of his "make a wish." ~I'd like to meet George W. Bush so I can take my little buddy with me to deliver his letter to the President :-)
Hey Heather, yes time does go by so fast! Cailey is almost 22 months old now and our 2nd daughter will be a scheduled c section set for August 6th. That is crazy, Isabella is already 3 months old now, wow! I was battling with severe lower back pain and still am right now, but used that as an excuse to fall off the BFL the past year. I gained a whoppin 76 pounds back over that course. I just started back on hardcore on May 18th and have lost 25 pounds since. I will have some pretty good before and after pics after this transformation. My spine is very crooked from the disc and nerve pain causing the muscles to tense up all of the time. It is taking extreme mental focus and determination to push through workouts with the pain, but I am miserable and have to get my health back so I can help other people again. I hope you and your family are doing good and we will stay in touch more from now on. I just lost so much self esteem and the low self image made me get out of the loop on everything. Have a great week and thank you so much for checking in and seeing how we were doing.
Hey Heather! We have a little over 5 weeks until baby girl # 2 is born! Aug 6th is the scheduled cesearean. Time sure does fly! Would love to see pics of little Isabella! Hope you have a wonderful week, and thanks for stopping by to say Hello!! :)
Thats awsome. I wrote that one for my daughter. I am actually going into the studio in 2 weeks to record an album. New songs! I need to get up there and when I do Ill let you know. April got her stupid BFL certificate in the mail today. Which means she didnt win. The winner better have done better than a 14 to a 3.
ahh... I can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful new baby. :) Good for you to be helping others. One thing about that...when you need help..you will get it FOR SURE!
