BODY SUGARING IS BETTER THAN WAXING!
What's the difference between waxing and body sugaring?..
Both treatments remove patches of hair quickly, with about the same degree of *slight* discomfort. Waxing pulls more hair at a time, so the treatment is over more quickly. Sugaring takes a little longer, but because it pulls hair in the direction of growth, thus, with sugaring, there is less chance for ingrown hairs.
ALSO:
1. *SUGAR PASTE WILL NOT REMOVE SKIN - sugar paste will not remove skin because it will NOT stick to live skin cells. With waxing, skin can be removed!
2. *BODY SUGAR PASTE IS NOT HOT - sugar paste is applied to the skin at body temperature. Skin can NEVER be burned by body sugar paste! This cool paste is much more comfortable for Brazilian/bikini areas!! Hot wax feels extremely HOT on these tender, sensitive spots!!!
3. *SUGARING IS MORE SANITARY THAN WAXING - sugar paste is never recycled and no double dipping occurs!
..WE DO NOT RECYCLE OUR SUGAR!! - Each client gets their own fresh sugar!! Some salons recycle their wax!!!
..NEVER EVER GO TO A SALON THAT DOUBLE DIPS INTO THE WAX POT!! Commonly salons and spas use a pot that heats the wax and apply it with a wooden stick to the skin. The technicians aren't supposed to put the stick back into the wax after it has touched the skin, but throw it away and take a fresh stick for each application. In other words, they shouldn’t double-dip.
..But is double-dipping really that big of a deal? Absolutely. Waxing usually draws some blood, especially when performed on the body. So the stick will likely come into contact with blood, and if double-dipped, potentially infect the entire pot of wax with an infection or a disease the client may be carrying. Then, the next client being waxed could get infected. And, if you’re thinking the wax is hot enough to kill any bacteria, it’s not! Double-dipping is one of the signs to look for at the salon or spa, telling you to find somewhere else to go.
..With sugaring - No sticks are used! In fact, only one glob of sugar paste is used on the client for the whole sugaring process. No cross contamination can occur!
4. *BODY SUGARING LEADS TO THINNER LESS NOTICEABLE HAIR - by restructuring the root of the hair and making it smaller thus producing thinner, more fine hair with each subsequent sugaring treatment.
5. *BODY SUGARING IS LESS PAINFUL THAN WAXING - The sugar must be pressed and massaged into the skin which makes this treatment both a relaxing experience as well as a hair removal treatment. The body sugar is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth and removed IN the direction of the hair growth (opposite of waxing)
so there is less pain and (unlike waxing) less hair breakage occurs. The videos below demonstrate the body sugar application.
6. *SUGAR WIPES UP WITH WATER - You will not leave our studio feeling sticky from wax residue or greasy from chemical wax solvents! Also, there is no damage to client clothing.
7. *BODY SUGAR IS ALL NATURAL - it's made simply of sugar, water, lemon juice. YOU CAN EAT IT!! Wax is made up of manufactured resins and chemical compounds!
8. *SUGARING DOES NOT REQUIRE MUCH HAIR GROWTH - hair only needs to be 1/8" long to be removed. About a weeks worth of hair growth is sufficient! Unlike waxing that requires 2 to 3 weeks of hair growth.

FAQs
Can I sugar if I'm using Accutane?
Absolutely not. Accutane is an oral Vitamin A analog which affects the whole body and can cause severe drying and thinning of the skin. There is a high risk of permanent damage to the skin if you sugar while on this treatment. Wait at least 6 months after discontinuation of Accutane before receiving a sugaring treatment.

Can I sugar if I'm using Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac or Differin?
Applied topically these products cause an increased amount of shedding and can thin the skin significantly. It is not recommended that you sugar OR WAX the areas where these medications are applied. Wait at least 3 months after the discontinuation of these products before sugaring.
What exactly is a brazilian?
It is the sugaring or waxing of all pubic hair. For women it includes the labia and anal region. For men it includes the penis, scrotum and anal region.
This will be my first brazilian. What can I expect? Will it hurt? Will I have some irritation, redness?
You're removing hair by the root...it will probably sting a bit. If you keep to a regular schedule most clients say the pain decreases significantly. (Keep in mind that sugaring is gentler than waxing so it won't hurt as much as if you waxed the area). Irritation and redness are common responses, due to the histamine reaction caused by the removal of the hair by the root. Regular sugaring will desensitize your skin and cause less irritation. Regular sugaring also reduces the thickness of residual hair growth.
What if I want to leave a little hair when I get my brazilian?
We strive to give each client individual attention, so we'll be happy to work with you to create the look you desire.
How often should I sugar? How long does it last?
Typically every 3 - 4 weeks. Sugaring allows us to remove hairs as short as 1/16 of an inch although we recommended that the hair be between 1/16-1/8 inch for the best results.
How sanitary is sugaring?
Very!! There is NO risk of cross contamination because we use only pure sugar paste with clean, gloved hands. It's so clean and pure you can eat the sugar right out of the pot.
I leave the waxing salon sticky or greasy will this happen if I sugar?
Sugar is water soluble, so just a little water will remove any sticky residue from your skin and clothing. There's no risk of damaging your clothes and no solvents are ever used on the skin.
Can I tan right before or after I sugar?
Please allow 24 hours prior to and after sugaring before you tan. If you have a sunburn do not get sugared in that area, as your skin is more sensitive and could cause the skin to tear and scar.
Can I work out or go to the gym?
Working out before your sugaring appointment is fine, but please rinse off before coming in for your appointment. It is best to wait 24 hours after sugaring to work out as your follicles are open and sweat and dirt can add to skin irritation.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
*Sugaring is NOT advised for people suffering from cold sores/herpes as the sugaring process can exacerbate or cause an outbreak of the virus.
*SUGARING can NOT be performed on persons taking Accutane!! You must wait 6 months after completing the treatment to be sugared.
*FACIAL Sugaring can NOT be performed on persons taking Retinols, Retin-A, Renova, Differin or any other skin thinning prescription. You must wait 3 months after completeing the prescription treatment to be sugared.
*FACIAL sugaring can NOT be performed on persons who have had recent facial peels or recent micro dermabrasion. It is advisable to wait 2 weeks before getting sugared.
*FACIAL Sugaring is NOT advised for persons using the Obagi line or other skin thinning treatment lines. Facial Sugaring while taking these medications can result in facial skin removal.
CAUTION: If you are currently using any of the following, please inform your technician. These products can make the skin more sensitive. Thin, sensitive skin is more vulnerable to lifting and sensitivity during sugaring OR waxing.

PRECAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS: Please read these valuable guidelines:
Sunburned or irritated areas cannot be sugared or waxed
Moles cannot be sugared or waxed.
You must wait a minimum of seven (7) days before sugaring or waxing after a light chemical peel or microdermabrasion.
Sugaring/Waxing cannot be performed if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year.
Sugaring/Waxing cannot be performed if you have had a physician administered peel within the past two (2) years.
If irritation should occur, it is recommended you use an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin to keep the area continually moist to avoid infection and scabbing.
No sun for 12 hours following a sugaring/waxing treatment.
No hot baths for 24 hours following a body sugarin/waxing treatment.
No abrasives for 24 hours following a sugaring/waxing treatment.
Deodorants applied within 24 hours following an underarm sugaring/waxing treatment COULD cause irritation.
Women may experience extra sensitivity to sugaring/waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of their menses.
*Persons using TOPICAL (not oral) facial prescriptions can be safely sugared on all other body parts.
