boemtjak is a collaboration between wowflow and
other artists, friends and guerilleros like Tijl, Nick (rip), Yzerbeat, Lou_fi, Phil, Marthe, and more recently Soi (the boemtjak&Soi dvj team)
Influences
Aphex and all at warp; from Pixies to Sonic Youth when we need guitars, Reaggae is the mother of hiphop, Dub the father of all things electronic, we like to boogie in our disco shirts and fuck it up in a V-snares recut, music saves our lives every day.
street-art wise: banksy is god and the devil in one; pink and silver were a huge influence to get the party back in the protest.
vj-wise: mucho respecto to the pioneers in Belgium, visual kitchen, all the glory to coldcut, pushing the boundaries every time, and thank you Gondry and Cunningham for all the wicked eye-candy.
BoemTjak, the bad boy break from the times when dnb was still called jungle, now serves as an overall name for collaborations between w°w and other guerilla artists. The results vary: parties, mixtapes, websites, direct axions, vj or dj performances. Keywords might be: lo(no)-fi, copyleft, resist, non commercial, good vibes...
With our imagery, we have reached the screens of pukkelpop, enterrock, monty (antwerp), maushabitos in Portugal, several street art projects,...
With the soundsystem, we kicked some ass on Gentse Fieste (alsongside butsenzeller), Airantwerpen, ...
Now we do it both in a DVJ set with Soi, previously on TenDaysOff, Soulshine, Cactusclub, Petrol, and hopefully the rest of this universe ....
Stainage Records launches its free download offshoot – Stainage Off The Records.
We start with The Dog politik EP
'What you see and what you hear it's for real', you've been warned. Dense cinematic atmos and piercing basslines confront with razor sharp beats setting the tone for a steppy trip through Grimelock's sonic view of 'Dog Politik'.
The story is continued with 'Gorilla March' alongside Alchemyst. Dub heavy pads and stabs coming straight from a big rave flashback that echoes and glows until the bass drops and the beats kick in pumping out the air out of your lungs.

Fresh from playing Fabric in London, Berghain in Berlin and Robert Johnson in Offenbach (3 of the best clubs in the world), Levon Vincent comes to Manna for his 4th DJ set on European soil. As part of the new New York underground house movement (together with Jus Ed, DJ Qu, etc), Levon has been responable for the renaissance of house and techno in New York and is now rapidly spreading his wings, his records causing big waves in the European club scene. A self-confessed scientist working in the field of ass-shakery, Levon has been trained in the do's and don'ts of the club scene in New York since 1992, hanging out with Dee-lite (before they became famous), going to legendary clubs like the Sound Factory and DJ'ing in bars and clubs all over town. His recent podcast for Resident Advisor caused a big stir as well and when he was playing in Germany recently, even magazine Der Spiegel wrote an article about this phenomenon.
Also on the roster is Roger 23. Roger has released on Playhouse, Volt Musik, Baud and Meakusma. His dj sets are ecletic, incorporating house, techno and weird 80's stuff. He is a true craftsman when it comes to Dj'ing, having an amazing talent to 'feel' the dancefloor, mixing in stuff from leftfield, being able to always surprise his audience, without ever losing the groove, although the 'groove' in Roger's hands is totally his own unique voice.
Levon Vincent (Deconstruct, Novel Sound, USA) Roger 23 (Playhouse, meakusma, GER) Sensu & mck (Plain, meakusma, manna)
