Spider on the Keyboard
Past Twelve
Outside Chance
The Deep End
De:Bug magazine review 4/5: "Following the Kris Wadsworth this EP, this is one of our House highlights of the month. The keyboards are so steady, funky and many-sided, the mood so close and groove so clear that with each of the four tracks one decides immediately that he only ever wants to hear Deep House. The shuffle bewilderingly beguiles in a unique way, even with abstract vocal pieces like "Outside Chance" - all pieces have this magic soul. One of the deepest UK labels, over and over again."
Not much is known about the new kid in the playground Ladzinski, but what we know is that he has his own sound placed firmly between the different schools of proper house music. He steps up to the plate to deliver a true gem of a first release with four varied but very modern house tracks; there are elements of Chicago, New York, Detroit and Berlin spread across the whole EP. Spacey chords, deep sub-bass and snappy drums give this EP a real warm feel for the dance floor.
The four track EP kicks off on the A side with the aptly named Spider on the Keyboard where a trippy synth lead is dangled over a web of punchy 808 drums and grooving sub bass. The breakdown shakes the track to its bare components with the hypnotic lead ever present, until, after a moments silence the groove kicks back in with thick set of phased rhodes stabs that give the track a new focus. This is definitely one for dark rooms with low ceilings and sweat on the walls. Past Twelve comes next with bouncy 808 toms stomping around classic Chicago skippy drums. The melodic chords sweep into the mix and peak when the moving sub bass kicks in. Light pads and high strings round out the harmony to create a modern contemporary deep house track.
The flip starts keeps the theme going with Outside Chance; low pass filtered delayed stabs riding swinging snares and hats. Ladzinski’s now trademark bass pushes the groove and the high strings and chopped female vox take the listener back to somewhere between New York and Chicago mid-90s. The track finishes with a neat change in melody where a warped chord rides the rhythm down through the last few moments. Finishing up the EP is the title Track The Deep End, an Echochord influenced Detroit track with a low-slung groove and sweeping chunky chords. It’s a modern dub house track but with serious bite; fantastic to warm things up or take things down in the early hours.
