When Bo Harris begins to sing you cannot help but sit back and be immersed in the wonder of God's flowing grace. Bo's inspiration for reaching out through music comes from the message of Psalms 22:3, which tells us God inhabits the praises of His people. Since taking on this devoted path, Bo has had many diverse fellowship experiences, and has seen God’s presence move among those he has led in worshipping the one true living God.
At the age of 15, Bo felt God telling him music was where he needed to be. Bo disagreed. He told God he wasn’t good enough and never would be, but God simply replied, as He has to so many before, “No, but I Am.”
That is when Bo’s journey into the music world really took off. In the next ten years God would allow Bo to minister to teens all across the United States, students at the Universities he attended, and even open for David Crowder Band. He has also led his home church in worship for the last 5 years. In the past year Bo traveled to South Korea, twice to lead worship, his first multicultural experience.
Ten years of preparation, prayer and faith has prepared Bo for the place he has arrived at today. After years of searching for God’s next step and learning more about God’s grace and love, Bo knows he has been called to a full-time ministry in music. Jesus said in John 5:30 that “I can do nothing on my own… I do not seek My will but the will of the One who sent Me.” Bo has been sent on God’s mission with the knowledge and understanding that without the Holy Spirit breathing through and in him, God’s will could not be accomplished in his life.
During his high school and college years, Bo released amateur CDs but never has he put in so much energy, thought and prayer as he has his next album titled “The Long Horizon.” This work clearly reflects the journey Bo has taken. Bo said, “These songs are honest and true portrayals of who I am and what I struggle with intertwined with Scriptural references.”
‘‘ ‘The Long Horizon’ displays the pain and sadness behind human struggle while offering the substance of things hoped for,” Bo said. This is exemplified in Bo’s lyrics such as: “Like stars scattered through the night, so my soul is in pieces,” -- “I was lost you brought me home,” -- “I’ll remember what the shadow proves, that on the other side is the sun, waiting to shine through,” -- “My heart has grown so cold, my heart has grown so dry, like Peter by the fire, I have denied...That I am free”.
“Christ said that the truth would set us free,” Bo stated, “So above all else my hope for this album is that God would use it to set people free. Free to serve. Free to worship. Free to love.”
