We are Bohemian Sunrise. We're from South Jersey, near Philadelphia. There's a core four or five guys and one Adina in the band, but often have a few special guests join us on stage. We've got a raw, rhythmic sound - the kind you get all sweaty and primal to. Bands often say their music is different - ours really is. Even from one song to the next. A little bit funky, somewhat jazzy, with structured songs that stealthily jam into one another, with some afro-cuban tribal beats thrown in. We strive to make our music original, like nothing that's on the radio. Our music is heavily influenced by world rhythms: especially Salsa, Calypso, Afro-Cuban, Bossa, Tribal Drumming, and we'll even throw in some Flamenco, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, and Funk every so often.
In our years as a band, we've done lots of cool shows (benefits, festivals, hotel-parties...), traveled to many great places (NY, NJ, NC, MD, PA, Tweeter Center, Electric Factory, TLA, World Cafe Live, Funk Box, Tribeca, Hookah Lounge...), played with really AMAZING artists: Rusted Root, The Other Ones, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, String Cheese Incident, Vince Welnick, The Recipe, Jazz Mandolin Project, Vinyl, Townhall, Cabin Dogs..., and met SO MANY wonderful and interesting people!
We have independently released three full-length albums. Most recently, 'It's in the Cards', which was officially released in 2007 at the World Cafe Live Downstairs in Philly, PA. Philly Edge says, "Using world beats punctuated with jamband optimism and jazzy instrumentation, South Jersey-based Bohemian Sunrise creates songs of both musical and lyrical depth..." In 2003, we released our 2nd album, 'intoxicating', which was recorded live to over 200 fans at Indre Studios. An Honest Tune even voted intoxicating a Top Ten CD, saying, "World Beats and sinewy rhythm and blues blend together to create a parking lot masterpiece." Our first album, 'Soulstice', was released in 2000. Check out our live stuff at archive.org and bohemiansunrise.com/av.

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
A storm’s a-brewin’: Law is at work with a BRAND NEW VIDEO! Also we have posted a preview of our NEW SINGLE, ‘Jeffrey Dahmer’ along with full LYRICS on our myspace page. ‘Our fans are the blood that boils beneath our skin. To this end, we implore you: LET YOURSELVES BE DRAWN!!!’
