(formally known as Boss Playa) began his music career at an early age. At first, he only dabbled in the Hip Hop genre and focused his attention on sports until he graduated from high school in 2000. It was in college where he began to focus on his music career, and master his style. While attending Marshall University, he linked up with a squad called FBI (Fine Brothers Incorporated) Entertainment..... While working with FBI, B.O.S.S. hosted Hip Hop shows, passed out demos and held the best parties Marshall has ever seen. However, he broke away from the exciting party scene to get more focused and serious with life. Other major changes took place at this time; he left Beckley and moved to the big city of New York..... Living in New York has allowed B.O.S.S. to master a Country/New York-ish style that has yet to be heard. He met the up and coming producer Ka'lif who owned the record label UNSIGN Entertainment. Together, they recorded music part time. After a few months of working on tracks, the two emcees clicked together and Boss Playa became Chairman of UNSIGN Entertainment. Through UNSIGN Entertainment, B.O.S.S. had an opportunity to be a part of many completions and projects with UNSIGN artists as well as others..... In fall of 2006 B.O.S.S. released his first independent album (as Boss Playa) entitled Middle East America. However, after an encounter with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ he realized that the album as well as his former stage name did not represent him well. After careful consideration B.O.S.S. stopped producing secular music altogether. He also dropped his name and for a period time went by only Joseph, his real name, because it means "Jehovah's Increase"..... In the summer of 2007 B.O.S.S. joined a Christian fraternity--Alpha Nu Omega, Incorporated. On the day he crossed, he was given the acronym B.O.S.S. (Boldly Overtaking to Save Souls) as his line name which means Boldly Overtaking to Save Souls. Excited by this, he adopted his line name as his new stage name. He realized God blessed by giving him new life while his old nature is passed away (1 Cor. 5:17). Right now, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he is working on his first Christian rap album which will be entitled "Boldly Overtaking to Save Souls"..... Recently, in addition to doing music, B.O.S.S. is an active member of Restoration Temple A.O.G in Brooklyn, NY. He is also a radio host on the "Gospel All Night to the Morning" show on WGBB (AM 1240) every Monday night from 12 AM - 3 AM, the producer of WordUpFM.com's Open Mic Nite, on every second and fourth Friday each month in Brooklyn, NY and is also the Vice President of Alpha Nu Omega Fraternity, Incorporated - Empire State Region.
