About BOLD BEGINNINGS: Louisville Punk 1978-83
The purpose of this collection is to provide a first ever document of the earliest years of punk in Louisville, Kentucky. The bands included on this CD are NO FUN, THE ENDTABLES, BABYLON DANCE BAND, BLINDERS, THE DICKBRAINS, MALIGNANT GROWTH, MONSTERS, STRICT-9, YOUR FOOD and SKULL OF GLEE.

These are bands that, in large part, are responsible for laying the groundwork for notable Louisville acts such as SQUIRREL BAIT, SLINT, CRAIN, KINGHORSE, ENDPOINT, RODAN, WILL OLDHAM, SHIPPING NEWS, DAVE PAJO and more. Most of this material is previously unreleased. The remainder has not been available for over twenty years. BOLD BEGINNINGS clocks in at over 70 minutes and includes 29 songs by 10 bands. Inside is a 16 page full color booklet full of pictures and commentary by Tara Key (Babylon Dance Band / Antietam) and Jeff Jobson (Louisville native / Seattle filmmaker).

This compact disc is by no means definitive. We welcome any submissions of photos, video, commentary, stories, etc and we will be glad to post it here. Another great resource for this era of Louisville music is the Louisville Punk Archive website by Doug Maxson (The Dickbrains and Your Food). It can be found here.

Bold Beginnings can be purchased directly from Noise Pollution by visiting us at our website www.louisvillenoise.com
